Question I'm new and having trouble

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site. I've been reading many threads for quite some time and I finally got the nerve to start posting. I am 24 years old and having trouble conceiving due to endometriosis. I was on Depo Provera for 8 years and I finally started getting AF again this past May! I was so excited! I actually was successful in May but I had a MC at 5 weeks 2 days. My dr is treating me as a high risk patient and we're pretending I'm more like 34 and TTC than 24. Since the MC I've been taking Prometrium on CD 15 thru CD 24 because I have a LP defect. Last cycle was like a dream...I O'd on CD 14 (checked with OPK and CM) and I got AF on CD 17. This cycle is not so perfect...I should O this weekend sometime, but today CD 12 I started to bleed...light in the morning, then heavier by 1:00. I called my DR and he said to start taking the Prometrium today instead of on CD 15...he said I should still O this weekend as predicted, but I'm worried. If I don't get a BFP this cycle, I'm going to start Clomid my next cycle. I'm kinda looking for some reassurance that I'll still O this cycle even though I had breakthrough bleeding today. Since I took the Prometrium this afternoon, the bleeding stopped...so that's good...but I hope I'm still going to O this weekend! Anyone have any words of wisdom to reassure me?

hi there....glad you decided to come out of lurkdom.

i'm so sorry about your loss. what a frustrating journey you've been on.

as far as your last cycle, you said you O'd on cd 14 and got AF on cd 17. did you mean that you got AF at 17 dpo? i'm assuming that's what you meant cuz you definitely don't want to get AF 3 days after you O.

i'm confused about why the doc would tell you to start the prometrium now tho. prometrium is progesterone and that will prevent you from O'ing. progesterone is usually produced naturally after O has taken place. when we introduce it sythetically, it's important to make sure O has already occurred as the body will be tricked into thinking O has happened otherwise and prevent it. did i explain that well?

that's my only concern. i know break through bleeding can be a sign of a hormonal imbalance, and even a sign of low progesterone. but the body shouldn't be producing progesterone before O, so i'm just unsure of why your doc is handling things this way. did he explain anything to you?

Sorry...I got AF on CD 27... And see, you confirmed my suspicions about why I should start the Prometrium today...I thought it was bad timing and I thought you need higher progesterone AFTER you O....My doctor wasn't in the office today so the nurse talked to the On-call dr and she said that he said to start taking it today and I asked her about whether I would O or not and she said I would...but I didn't believe her. So now I'm thinking this month is going to be a waste.
The other thing is, this month, I'm not getting the same symptoms of O....no CM changes or anything...so maybe my hormones are really imbalanced this month. My hormones are definitely imbalanced, which is why I'm on the Prometrium....so maybe this month my body is just not going to cooperate...
Ugh...it's so frustrating.
Do you think I shouldn't take the Prometrium anymore until I'm supposed to on CD 15 and see if I start to bleed again?

oh sweetie...i'm not sure what to say. i'm not a doctor and i don't want to tell you to go against doctors orders.

i can say this...if it were me, and i was hoping to O, i wouldn't take it. is there any chance your regular doc is in tomorrow? i would call them and tell them you want to talk to him personally because you're not comfortable with the advice from the other doc that doesn't really know your history.

My doctor won't be in until Monday...I'm going to have to wait until then to call.
Good news is, I did stop bleeding...I'm still debating about whether or not I'll take the next dose...Since my regular doctor wasn't the one who told me to take it, I'm not so sure it is the best thing for me, so I think my plan is to keep TTC and not take another Prometrium until CD 15 (Monday). Then I will call my doctor on Monday to see what he says.

Well my regular doctor called me back today THANK GOD! He said that my hormone imbalance is most likely worse this month, which is why the Prometrium didn't help and I bled early this cycle...so the verdict is.... enough playing around. I'll be on Prometrium for another week...then when AF comes again, I am going to start my first cycle of Clomid on CD 5-9. We talked about Clomid a few months ago if things didn't work out with trying other things....but I really didn't think it was going to come down to it...but I guess in roughly 2 weeks I'll be using Clomid and hoping for the best!
