Very confused and really need advice!
Good Morning everyone, Well I finally got my positive opk surge this am. But I can't go and have my IUI until Thursday morning, because my husband won't be here until then. I called my RE's office and they said that waiting until then was fine. But I don't know in the past I have ALWAYS gone in the day after the pos surge. So I am very conflicted right now on what to do, especially since we pay all out of pocket.
Any thoughts or advice would be great! Have any of you waited until 48 hrs past your surge to to IUI? I would love to hear about it especially if you have had sucess! LOL! Thank you for your support! Chris P.S. I posted on the IUI board as well

Do you chart temps? Do you know when you O wrt your OPK.
I usually O 2 days after I get my +ve I would POAS again today -if you are still surging then tomorrow would be fine If you are not, then I would be in a tight spot to spend the money -the chances seem lower -but then if you don't O regularly I wouldn't want to miss the chance. |

Thanks wan2b3, No I don't chart, but I think after the stress of this month I just might start! I am not sure exactly when I O, I just usually use the opk's and then once I get the Positive I go in the next day for the IUI, I have never gone in two days later, but this month I don't have a choice. Hmm I need to figure out something else to do besides obsess! LOL Yeah right good luck huh! Are there any other signs of O I should be looking for? You made me feel better by saying you usually don't O until 48 hrs after your Positive OPK, Thanks!

chris..how did it go? what did you wind up doing?
if it's any consolation, i know a few ppl who go in for IUI on the second day after the surge (because that's what the RE prefers) and have had success. i also know some ppl that have gone in on both the first and second day after the surge...so there must be some value to that second day

Dina, thanks for asking. I ended up going in even though I think I missed my window. I figured I couldn't win, if I dinn't go I would obsess that I missed a chance, so I wen't even though I think it was kinda of a waste. But its so hard to get my husband here for a cycle I didd't want to miss out. I asked my RE about the timing and he said it should still be okay, but I am definatly not optimistic.
Thanks again for thinking of me! Chris |

don't lose hope. a pos OPK is indicative of an impending O usually between 12-48 hours. 48 hours if you catch the very beginning of your surge. additionally, the egg has a "shelf life" of 12-24 hours once it's released. so you can be "cautiously" optomistic...how's that?
