Help!!

Hi guys, I hope somebody can help me here. I am on clomid and promitruim 200 mg. My last 2 cycles progesterone was low 7.8 and 8.2. I had my progesterone checked this cycle. I initially started at 100 mg but temp was not staying up, so doc told me to go up to 200 mg. Anyway, I call the nurse yesterday and she did not want to give the results because she want to double check with the lab , today I called again and she told everything else was OK (pro lactin = 13.4, T3 = 3.5, T4= 1.2 ,estradiol= 136) HOWEVER MY PROGESTERONE IS 142!!!!!!!!

she said they double checked and that is the number, my doc ( just my GO) is out of town and the nurse said if she were me she would stop taking it....
What do you guys think???? I am so confused because I don't feel none of the progesterone symptoms like sore boobs... can it be a lab mistake.. should I ask to retest? should I at least lower the dose back to 100 mg???
temp today was 98.3 another jump from the 97.9 in the past 3 days
today I am 10dpo

I am so confused

Shoot, Cibele, I don't know. Does your doctor have a partner, someone who would be on call? That seems awfully high - I'll do some research and see what I can find out for you. I would think if you stopped it, it still will remain in your system for a while...did the nurse tell you to stop or did she say, she would if it were her? I'll check and see if I can find anything out...I don't know....I'm so sorry I can't help you...

Thanks Sassy!

The problem I am not in a fertility clinic, so nobody knows anything and there is no patterns... it is only the student clinic. Ins does not cover anything related to fertility and if I do these basics test with my GO I save lot of money... the truth is that they don’t care much , they are use to deal with abortion rather than with a crazy women worrying about her progesterone level! I can’t wait to have a good doc.

How are you doing? when are thinking about POAS????] good luck to you too

Ok, my friend is a nurse and she said that too high of levels is not bad like too low of levels. Your body will rid itself of the excess. She is NOT a doctor, so I would take that with a grain of salt, but personally, I would go back down to the 100mg. You only have a few days to go till day 14 @ least.

CALL THE NURSE, though, and see what she says about taking the 100mg still. When does your doctor get back?

Basically what I found on the internet is that too high of levels will increase side effects and your body will start to have a hard time metabolizing it. I'm the farthest thing from an expert - I've done nothing, but stress out myself, over stupid stuff, though. Hopefully Maura or someone who has more experience will be on soon and be able to tell you.

I, myself, am depressed. I can't help, but think negative thoughts - i certainly don't want to get my hopes up at all. I called my RE today and said that I wanted to do IUI next - the one and only test they NEVER did was the post coital and with the fact that I haven't seen any EWCM lately, maybe that's my problem. I had left a message for the nurse and when she didn't call back, I called to make an appt. with the doc. myself. Well, one of the nurses got on the phone and she obviously was busy and seemed a little short with me (not short, but I felt really stupid asking a zillion questions). Basically, I have to take a month off, go on birth control pills to calm everything down and then the following cycle, we'd start the injectibles/IUI. I go back to work in a few weeks and I can't see how I'm going to manage self injections 10 days straight and find time to call in 5+ days to have ultrasounds and the procedure itself. I just feel like I waited too long, started out too slow and it's never going to happen. I'm 8DPO and I broke down today POAS. Sad, i know. Of course it was negative LOL The nurse said AF doesn't start by day 14DPO (next Monday), come in for the BETA so I'll know for sure, I can stop the progesterone and start birth control pills. UGH!

ANYWAY - i hope you can figure out the situation - @ least you know your progesterone levels are up (and your temp is up too!!! - mine jumped today, but I tossed and turned all night and never slept for more than an hour).

I have my fingers crossed for you!!!!!!!!!!!! It'll all work out!

Thanks for the info, the funny thing is that I have no side effects...

I always feel stupid asking million questions to the nurse too. I am already thinking about next cycle.too .. I'll take a break until I can get better ins and finish up my thesis. I have the post coital test scheduled for next month too. This waiting game is frustrating, maybe IUI next year for me...
8dpo is too soon Sassy, I don't have the POAS syndrome yet, I will wait until Friday or so, just so I can stop progesterone.
For how long you have been TTC? where are you from? how old are you?
TTC for 18 months, I am from Brazil but I live in Kansas and I am 27

cibele...i was told by more than one doctor that you can not OD on progesterone. if pg has occurred, the body will take what it needs and discard the rest. the worst thing would be the side affects that increased levels of progest can cause. i would continue to take it until you speak to your doc.

i had a progest defficiency and not having it in my body (even introduced synthetically) meant the difference between a successful and unsuccessful pg.

good luck!!

I'm 35 (DH is 34). We've been together over 11 years and never used BC. We've been very careful. We've been actively trying now, though, for 16 months and after 6 months of every test, (except the post coital), we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I've always had POAS syndrome - it's my addicition LOL! My insurance only covers one try (clomid didn't count as long as I didn't do the bloodwork and ultrasounds with it). So, when we do the IUI, it has to work (UGH!)

We're in Michigan. How long have you been in Kansas? I can't believe you are working on a thesis while going through this - talk about stress I bet. Then again, when I did my thesis, it was an escape sometimes from everything else.

You've got 4 days and I'm right behind you - the waiting has got to be one of the hardest parts of all of this!!!
