What? Confused!
I have a question. I'm on CD12. I took 100mg of clomid days 2-6 and I'm on day 3 of estrace 1mg. I've been charting temps - no spikes - consistent between low 96's and low 97's. On day 10, I was to start checking with an OPK and BD every other day until a postive test. Then I was to BD for 3 days and start progesterone cream.
Here's my dilemna. Temps are consistent. CM is milky. The First Response brand OPK is positive. The Clear Blue Easy OPK test is negative. I've done them both 2 times and it is the same results. Which do I believe? Or should I say, which do I trust? THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

I hear you, I am clomid too and nothing makes sense. CD 19 and no positive OPK, CM is milky and temp is 97.5 today....
Did you take them at the same time? I did one in the morning and it was only one line completely negative , did another at 2 pm and was almost positive (if there is such thing) 2 out of 3 answers sounds good, maybe a dollar store one will do it for you. I agree with Leslie, most likely the positive one is correct. Keep checking Temp, if you see a consistent increase start on progesterone cream... I hope you have better luck them me! |

Yep - did them both at the same time...actually did both brands last night right before bed and both brands again this morning - a couple of hours after I got up. I'm running out to the store to get yet another brand (this is expensive stuff, isn't it?
)I agree - nothing makes sense. This is my first cycle on Clomid, I took mine days 2-6 (when everyone else seems to be 3-7 or 5-9 AND I'm on estrace days 10-meses or postive HCG test and if there are any estrace takes, they seem to be on it for 5 days only). My temps are consistently low and there's no EWCM, but the kit threw me off. They told I could chart temps or use the OPKs. I figured both was a better shot, but it's driving me crazy. I keep going back and looking and the First Response brand line one is DEFINATELY darker than the control line. Thanks ladies - I appreciate the responses! |

Hi there! Frustrating, these OPKs, aren't they? I would act as if you've had a ++OPK in that I would now start BMSing every day, BUT I wouldn't take the progesterone cream until your O has been confirmed by temps and I definitely wouldn't stop BMSing after the third day unless your temps have risen by then! In other words, keep BMSing until your temps have risen and are staying up and THEN take the prog. cream (you don't want to start the cream too early or you could interfere with O to the extent that you haven't O'd yet).
Finally, if your O is at all ambiguous (because maybe temps haven't risen in a clear way), I'd get a prog. draw to remove the ambiguity! Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++ Maura |

now that I got a +++++++ OPK I will not test again, just make so confused ....... temping is my new thing LOL............. I definitely feel like O is coming today or tomorrow, it hurtssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Good luck Sassy, TTC is indeed very expensive! I try to do both to, temp and OPK, bu t I guess it just adds to the stress. The good thing is that clomid is working for you and you will O early compared to me, got my + today, cd19 |

WHOO HOO - got my fingers crossed for you!
I did the third test - the line was there, but it def. wasn't positive. So, I'm going to relax somewhat. I usually have 35 day cycles, so o'ing this early seemed crazy to me. And hey, maybe the First Response tests are extra senstitive...who knows. Good Luck and have fun!!!!!!!! Keep us posted!

Hi again: I used ClearPlan OPK always and found them to be very reliable... so, I'd be surprised if you were surging and they were negative! That said, I still would BMS regularly now just in case that FR OPK was right and you are Oing early!
Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++ Maura |

Ok, it's a new day and out of the OPK tests, - the ClearBlueEasy that was negative yesterday is now positive today and the Walgreen brand that was negative is also positive. I didn't try the First Response again, considering it was positive yesterday(guess it lives up to it's name LOL). My CM is still milky and slightly sticky. The instructions from my RE say if I'm using BBT, have BMS every other day until 3 days after temps rise. If using the OPKs, have BMS with a positive result for the next 3-4 days. My temp this am was 96.9, up a little from yesterday.
So, do I have BMS 2x a day for the next few days to increase my chances or just once a day? DH had great counts both in number and mobility/motility. Boy, can you tell this is my first cycle and I'm new at this? LOL SMILES!!! Last edited by sassymermaid; 07-29-2006 at 09:03 AM. |

Hi Sassy
: It's not recommended to BMS more than once every 24 hours because sperm needs a chance to rejuvenate (even with no male factor ). So, if I were you, I'd BMS every day now, once a day, until your temps rise and stay up (and I would at least BMS today, tomorrow and the next day regardless of what your temps do).Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++ Maura |

Thank you!!! DH said the same thing, but can you tell, I want this to happen this cycle so I don't have to do the dreaded meds again? LOL...they've knocked me for a loop and I can't imagine going back to work on these meds next month....yuck!
SMILES! |
