Hpt?????

hello all,

have kind of a silly question, this is my 1st time for ivf, the did e/t on sat july 22, i was wondering if i should take a hpt or if i should wait a few days or not do one at all. my doc appt for b/w is tues aug 1.
HELP!!! i am beginning to drive myself crazy wondering if i should take one or not!!!

Hi Cathy! Not at all a silly question... when to take the HPT is a hot topic, as you can see from some of the posts here

!

Anyway, what kind of egg transfer was it? 3 day, 5 day? If you did a 3 day transfer, then I'd wait until AT LEAST 7 days post transfer to test since that would be the equivalent of testing at 10 dpo. But remember, whenever you do test, please keep firmly in mind that you can EASILY get a false negative when testing earlier than 14 dpo or 11dp3dt (and you can still get a false negative then).

So, whether you test soon or not depends on whether you would feel better waiting for your chances of an accurate result or whether you would feel better testing, even if you could still get a false negative.

well it was a 5 day transfer, transfer was last sat july 22. i am having some mild cramping, which i have been told is good. just really nervous and excited~!!!!!

Hi again: Ok, if a 5 day transfer, then today would be the equivalent of 10 dpo

. If you can, I would wait another couple of days ... if you can't, then just keep in mind what I said above about early testing!

well i think i am gonna hold off as long as i can. its just so tempting!! so is the mild cramping a good sign??
