back on the wagon (baby ment)

hey girls!
well, i'm back on the ttc wagon! my dd is 9 1/2 mos old, and we've decided to start ttc. this is the 2nd cycle we're ttc on....last month, i missed O (stopped OPKing too early) and this month, well....that's another story.

my last two cycles were 31 and 34 days long. big improvement to my cycles when i got preg with my dd (they were 50 days long!). but, they are not consistent in length, which makes finding O so hard!

today is cd23. if this cycle was the same as last cycle, i should have O'd on cd20. but, i have been OPKing since cd15 and have still not gotten a + result. i did have one day of EWCM (cd17) but it only was stretchy about 1'', and then the next day went back to lotiony CM - and i OPKd that day (twice) and got negative results.

BUT - last week, on wednesday (cd15) i came down with strep throat. i had low grade fever, and tonsils the size of golf balls. i've been taking amoxicillin twice a day since then. so, i'm wondering....could being sick have delayed my O? i stopped OPKing last month two days too early, so i'm just going to keep on peeing on those stupid sticks til i get my +!!

i also did the bbt before, and will most likely start that again next cycle. i was hoping to be lazy and just catch the O with the OPKs, but looks like that's not going to work!

any insight would be great. we aren't really able to just have BMS every 2 days b/c when we were ttc with dd, my dh's semen analysis showed that it took him a good 4-5 days to restock his spermies and have a good supply. when we did the semen analysis 2 days after, it was a low count. but, i told dh that if this cycle didn't work, next cycle, we're just going to have BMS every other day anyway, for the whole possible O period!! for the poor soul who's had to deal with this girls non-existant to low post-baby sex drive, i bet he's hoping this cycle doesn't work!

thanks again for any insight! dina, maura, stace....how are you girls? still kicking around here? i'll have to find a pic of the baby to post for you....although, she's not quite so little anymore! she's growing too fast!

hugs!
sarah

hi sarah....back on the wagon already huh? good for you!! welcome back!

i think temping would be a great idea. it'll definitely help you establish a pattern and see what's going on. did you have any issues (aside frome MF issues) while TTC camryn? i'm sorry i don't remember if there were any other obstacles.

i don't think being sick would prevent you from O'ing, although it can throw your body out of whack a little.

refresh my memory a little about things......

P.S. are you BF'ing?

Hey Sarah! Welcome back! I can't believe Camryn is going to be 1 relatively soon! Share a pic when you can....

As for your ttc question, I too think temping is the way to go for you. You'll be able to see what your cycle is doing and try to catch O better. As for this month, I don't know. I'd pay close attention to your cm and BMS on any day that you have good cm! I don't know that I'd keep OPKing at this point since you might well have already O'd earlier and just missed it, either because you surged before you started OPKing or some other way. But it's your call!

I'm sorry about your strep. My ds has had it THREE times this spring and he might be incubating # 4 (his tonsils are very swollen, but unlike the other three times, no fever or sore throat -- or so he says! Sometimes I think he has a high tolerance for throat pain! We'll see.....

Good luck and glad to have you back here!

thanks girls!

maura....with cami, i didn't have any other issues other than a wicked long cycle. it was 50 days, and i didn't O til cd36! it sucked to wait that long!!

i think i'm going to finish this box of OPKs, and then call it a bust. then when AF shows up (whenever that may be) and the next cycle starts, i'll start temping. i look forward to having all of your expert advice help me along again! you guys rock!

here's a pic of my miss cami....it was the first day i tried to 'do' her hair! don't you just love the pigtails?!? she's such a good little girl, too....i'm so very lucky.

big hugs, and thanks again for the help!.
