I stopped taking it about mid cycle, but haven't temped or opk'd or anything. So technically I have no idea what cd I could be on, or whether I've O'd but my guess is I have. I have two questions really, the first is re: the AF issue, but the second is this, if I was taking the mini pill (progesterone only) then would I still ovulate because I get all the ewcm and cramps etc just as if I was on a natural cycle, if this is so, should I expect AF as normal even though I stopped taking the pill mid pack?
I thought the mini pill only blocked your cervix to prevent sperm meeting egg, but didn't alter your cycle as such which is why it has slightly less efficacy. Does anyone know if this is right? I've been in the 2ww before but I feel like this is worse because I have no idea where I'm at IYSWIM.

Hi fred: From what I've been able to gather from my quick search, yes, it's possible to ovulate on those mini-pills. One site said that it prevents O, but another site said that it doesn't prevent O, but rather makes cm hostile so that the sperm can't get up into the uterus or tubes (the first site said that part too). So, if you stopped taking it mid-cycle, you could possibly ovulate.
Now knowing this doesn't help us very much because it doesn't answer the question of when AF will come! If you did O, then you would expect O 13-17 days post-O (assuming a normal LP). But since we don't know whether you O'd, then there's no way to know when --or even whether-- to start counting! One thing you could do is ask your doctor for a progesterone test. If you O'd, then you'll know that AF is on its way (unless you had unprotected sex, in which case you could have gotten pg). And if you didn't O, then I suppose your body will have to resume cycling again, which could take a while (again, no clear answer there since it's different for everyone). Sorry I can't give you any clear answers! I hope you figure out where you stand so you can move forward! Best and keep us posted++++++++++++ Maura |

I thought that the mini pill can stop O due to having constant progesterone. Since U stopped in the middle.. if I read right... u should just have to wait for the progesterone withdrawl... the lower progest. levels and AF should come and you should be back to normal!!
I know when I took progesterone supps... I had more CM than normal. Maybe a SA with some pple?Good Luck!! |
