Question reset 2nd hand clear blue fertility monitor

I am wondering-- I just called ClearBlue and they said there is no way to reset the monitor. She stated it was designed for only one user. So after reading many fertity web sites that say you can reset it, I am confused! Does ClearBlue tell you that you can't so you buy new? Or can it really not be done? She also said that I could use my friend's but it would take 2 cycles for it to get to know me. My friend has a monitor that she is finnished using and said I could use, but I don't wanna waste my time. Thanks for any help or insight anyone could offer!

colanino....i would forget trying to reset it and just start using it. it does in fact take a couple of cycles to recalibrate itself when you start using it. it will not only do this when it changes hands, but also if the original owner takes a break from it and then goes back to start up again.

the monitor is designed to "get to know" the users cycle. after the first 1-2 cycles, it promps you to test based on the info it gathered during the first couple of cycles. it stores "hormonal" info based on what cd's it recorded changes and bases it's prompts for tests on that info. the first month that you use a previously owned monitor it may be particularly screwy because it's going to ask for tests based on the previous owners cycle. so the best thing to do is to use disposable OPK's in addition to the monitor for the first cycle or so. chances are good it might not give you a "peak" for those first cycles, but that doesn't mean you're not O'ing. it just doesn't have any other cycles to compare your surge to, so it doesn't know that you're actually at your peak.

i hope that helped and i didn't confuse you further. good luck!

I just got these from a friend of mine...not sure if they are the same as posted above, but here, just in case!

1. With the monitor OFF, place a clean unused test stick with the cap on (remove plastic cap from one end and snap it onto the other end of stick) in the test stick slot of the monitor.

2. *Make sure it snaps in.*

3. Press and hold the "m" button. Continue pressing the "m" button while turning the monitor ON.
**(NOTE: Do not take finger off "m" button until these directions say to do so.)

4. It will show you the "remove the test stick" sign. (a flashing test stick with an arrow pointing right) Continue pressing "m".

5. Keep pressing the "m" button and in about 20 seconds, you will see a screen full of symbols. The screen will look as if it is going crazy and will be full of pics.

6. Remove the test stick first and then QUICKLY release your finger from the "m" button. All of the memory should be wiped out.

7. Your screen should display a flashing "m" and one or two dashes. If it does not, it will probably show a "1" and a non-flashing "m". If it does, then you need to repeat the process so it shows the flashing "m" and dashes.

8. Start using the monitor on CD 1 as per the instruction booklet.
