OPK problems....again.
OK, I am really starting to dislike OPK's. This month again I couldn't find my peak. I've been testing twice a day (every 12 hours) and on CD 11 I got a line that was at least half again as light as the reference line. I figured (hoped) that it would get darker....but in the AM on CD 12 it was fainter and by that evening it was gone.
I had 2 good follies on u/s and a nice thick triple stripe endo. I had ewcm starting at CD9 to about CD13. If I'm not ovulating, my body is doing a heck of a job pretending. My OB thought I might have missed the peak, so we went ahead with the diui on Sat. I guess I'm wondering if that really makes sense. Everything I've ever read says that the peak is detectable for close to 24 hours minimum. I did have o type pain starting about an hour before the diui, so I'm crossing all my fingers that the OPK's just don't like me for some reason! I've only been OPKing for two months, but I haven't seen a peak at all.....ever. Is it possible to peak for only a couple of hours? Does anyone else have any ideas what could be going on? Thanks, Blue

I am sorry you are having issues. I usually saw a ++ opk the day before O. This was confirmed by the BBT and progesterone test. I know that there have been talks of some people not seeing a ++OPK, ever. I am not sure what could cause that. Maybe you do not have what is needed for the actual release of the egg? Have you talked to your Dr? Maybe u need a trigger to make U O for sure.
Best Wishes! Kat |

My OB did say that if this cycle didn't work that she would do the next one with a trigger shot. I do know that the 2 follies that were there did rupture, I'm an ultrasound tech and I saw them Fri morning and when I checked Sun night they were ruptured. I can't BBT due to my schedule but if this cycle doesn't work, I think I'll ask about the progesterone test.
Thanks, Blue |

No, I did just to see if it would show anything. I tested until Sun night when I saw that the follies were ruptured. Last month I tested until CD 17. I usually have a 27 day cycle....if that helps. Also, Sat was the last day that I had ewcm. Now it's just clear.

She said that my peak may have been inbetween. That I caught it going up and then 12 hrs later I caught it going down. I couldn't find anything online about anyone having a peak that lasted for less them 24 hours. I was wondering if anyone here had ever heard about that happening.
She's not a RE though, just an OB. The thing is, she's a friend of mine and doing the iui's for free. If this one doesn't work work, I think I'll try one more with her and the trigger shot before I suck it up and pay for an RE. Thanks, Blue |
