Progesterone and BBT question???

Hey there girls,
I know you are all so knowledgable about all the BBT stuff. I just started doing it this month, so I am new to it all. I have been using my fertility monitor and everything is going well, I just started doing my temps after ovulation...and I am watching them progressively rise everyday. Today it was 98.16, my question is this: since I am taking progesterone will it keep my temp up after the end of this cycle or if I am not pregnant will they drop as they would if I was not on the progesterone?? I just do not want to get my hopes up if I see my temp staying up.
I have a long history of m/c and I need to know asap when I am pregnant so I can go on Lovinox and prescribed progesterone. I have had 9 m/c's. So it is really important to know as soon as we can, without going for blood work unessesarily.
Thank you all for all your information ahead of time
Linda

Hi Linda: First of all, welcome to the bb.

I am so so sorry to hear about all of your m/cs. I had 3 losses and can't imagine the kind of strength you must have to get through them. {{{HUGS}}}

As for progesterone supps, they *can* keep temps up even if you are not pg. For some women, they can even extend the luteal phase (which is really cruel). So, unfortunately, you can't really go by temps (although for some women, temps aren't affected and will fall and they'll get AF right on time, even while on prog. supps).

Since you need to take action as soon as you are pg, maybe your doctor will give you early betas? Because my diagnosis was RPL, I started testing at 10 dpo with sensitive HPTs. When I got the faintest of ++s, I convinced my doctor to give me betas at that time because I told her that if I was having another loss I needed to KNOW that so it could be part of my medical history and I could know what I was dealing with and try to figure out why I was not able to sustain the pg.

When I later went to an RE (who found a uterine septum), he had me on prog. supps right after O as a precaution and said he wanted me to test early and let him know as soon as I saw a ++.

BEST of luck to you... I hope that your stay here is short and sweet! Let us know how we can help you++++++++++++
Maura

hi linda....welcome!

i can't really add much to what maura's already said. the increased progesterone (without the fall of for AF) is what "signals " the body that it might be pg. so as maura said.cruel as it is, supplementing progest can "trick" the body sometimes. so although i'm not a fan of hpt'ing early, in this case it's good advice. best of luck!
