clomid and late, need opinions

I am on 2nd round of clomid and prometrium. My normal cycle is 24 days long w/ the prometrium. I dont have regular periods. I am currently on cycle day 32. I took a test 2 days ago and it was neg. I have felt kind of sick to my stomach but no other symptoms. Has anyone had this happen and been pregnant? I know clomid and can make cycles longer but the prometrium is suppose to make me start and i'm technically a week late, help...Its so stressful waiting. I will take another test tomorrow morning and then call the dr monday if still neg. I had progesterone level of 13 on cd 22, but follicles were only 6mm on cd 15.....so confusing....

Do you know when you O'd? I know that clomid can make O later in your cycle so if you O'd later than your whole cycle may be longer. If that is the case its very possible to get a false neg hpt this early. I agree w/calling the dr on monday if nothing has changed. Hang in there and keep us posted!!

Prometrium will make you start after you stop taking it. It is a progesterone supp. When I have taken progesterone after O, I do not start for a few days once I stop. I have never started AF while taking any type of progesterone.

Also, Clomid can make you O later. I was on 150mg and did not O until CD 18. Do you know the day you O'd? You wont have a progesterone level until you O.. then most have 2 weeks after O before AF comes.

Best Wishes!! Keep us posted!

Hi: The others are right... many women on Clomid O later, often around cd 20-ish. If you O'd around then this month, then you might be 12 dpo today (which could be too early for either AF or a ++HPT since you can still implant as late as 12 dpo!).

When your cycles are only 24 days long, do you know what cd you O?

I'm thinking you O'd later this month and it's just too early to know which way the cycle is going..... wait another 2 days if you can and try testing again!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++

I dont know if ever o'd when I had the 24 day cycle, I think dr and I assumed I didnt b/c my progesteron level last month on cd 22 was only 6. I just think its wierd b/c last day of taking prometrium was 11 days ago so I would think I would have started by now. I am going to take 1 more test tomorrow and then cll dr on monday, i'll let you know what happens. Its so stressful!

Hi again: What cds did you take the Prometrium? Did you stop on cd 21? Did your doctor have you start the Prometrium after you thought you O'd?

The reason I have so many questions is that Prometrium can delay or interfere with ovulation altogether and so it's important to confirm that O has taken place before starting on the Prometrium. And since Clomid can make women O around cd 20, I'm wondering why he had you start it any earlier than that and even more importantly, without confirming that you had in fact already O'd?

I think the important thing now to is to try to figure out where you are in your cycle. If you O'd on cd 20, then your AF wouldn't come until (assuming a normal LP) somewhere between cd 33 and cd 37. So, AF wouldn't be late yet (even though you stopped the Prometrium, AF wouldn't necessarily come after the stopping, esp. if you O'd on or around the time you stopped it).

Let us know what the doctor says... I hope you get some answers... it's so hard not knowing!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++

I always start the prometrium on cd 12 - 22. That is very interesting. I have never heard that it can hinder ovulation. Sometimes I wonder if my dr knows what shes talking about. Wouldnt she know this info?? If my progesterone level was 13 on cd 22, doesnt that suppose to mean I already ovulated?? I always start my period on the last day or day after last day I take the prometrium. The last 3 days i have felt very sick to my stomach off and on, kind of losing my appetite. I dont know if its just stress or what. See, back in October before I started all this I had a positive hcg blood level of 130, but then started my period 2 wks later and my dr said it was just a false positive b/c my next hcg level was 0 one week later. I never felt any symptoms when I thought I was pregnant them. But I just feel gross lately. Thank you for listening....

Ack! You shouldnt take prometrium until you ovulate. Progesterone is part of the whole birth control pill thing, it stops LH from being produced because it tricks your body into thinking it already ovulated!! Half of birth control pills are estrogen, second half is typically progesterone. You need to either be monitoring your cycle by bbt, opk or some other source (u/s) to make sure you ovulate THEN start progesterone support. Progesterone blood work is usually done 7 days post o to get a true level of progesterone in your body. If you are starting progesterone on cd 12 and getting a reading on cd22, you are just measuring how much you are taking in the pills, NOT that you ovulated.

I really hate to say this, but you are most likely stopping your body from ovulating. I would clarify this with your dr. She should know this and if she doesnt, id be finding a different dr. Another thing is that if it was a quantitive hcg level of 150 i highly doubt it was a false positive, but rather you had a m/c Im so very sorry! Please get a second opinion. Many good thoughts coming your way!

I totally agree w/Julie!! We julie's think alike you know-lol!!! My mouth dropped open when I read that you were told you got a false + hcg level!! I would agree that it was more likely an early m/c-if that is the case I am so very sorry. I've been there and its hard. I would definitely clarify the steps you should be taking w/your meds and such w/your dr. These steps are so critical in this process!! I also agree that you should temp or opk or both to monitor your cycle for O. I hope you work things out soon and can relax-I also hope you feel better soon-unless you are pg-then its ok to feel sick-lol!! Keep us posted!!!

OMG.. I had thought that you took the progesterone after O was confirmed.... That is why I thought your progesterone level was due to O, but if you were taking progesterone before O.. then that could cause the levels.

I would really talk to your dr... better yet find a new one. I am so sorry that this has happened.. but least we were all here to help. I wish I could do more... Please keep us posted!! Hugs!! Kat
