Question How long before HPT

Hi I new to the board. My husband and I have been TTC #2 for about 5 mo. On day 21 I got a ++ OPK along with EWCM (for the first time) (Feb. 19). So needless to say I am so anxious to get a BFP. So I was wondering when should I test?? My periods are not regular going from 29- 35 days!! So waiting for AF could take a while!!!

I think to get true results you should wait until 14dpo. Otherwise you could get a false - which is never good. Do you temp? I temp so I know my lh phase if always 14 days so if I O late then my AF is late. Does that make sence? Anyway I think that 14dpo is a good day to get accurate results.

Hi and welcome to the bb! If you got a +OPK on cd 21, then you should have ovulated somewhere in the range cd 21-23 (2/19-2/21). For testing purposes, I would assume the later O date just so you don't test too early. And then I would try very hard to wait until 14 dpo. SO, I think that brings you to cd 37 or 3/7 if I'm doing my math right.

I hope your 2ww flies by and if you do test any earlier than 3/7, just remember that it could just be too early!

Best of luck and keep in touch++++++++++++

Hi! Thanks for the responces. No I don't BBT but if i am not preggo this month then I will start. I have a HPT that says "the majority of women will have a greater chance of a positive reading at 9 or 10 days past ovulation." So I think that I might test on Thurs, knowing that I could have a false -. I am just so anxious I don't think I can wait much longer!!! I am wondering if anyone has tested on day 10 and gotten a BFP or even a faint +++??

Hi: I tested a FAINT ++ at 10 dpo with my ds using the CVS brand (this was in 2000, so I'm not sure if the brand is the same now) .... but I know MANY women who have gotten negatives at that stage, despite being pg... so, if you test, please keep that squarely in mind.

As for the HPT that claims that it can given an accurate result at 9-10 dpo: implantation takes place between 6-12 dpo, so if a person is going to implant at 11-12 dpo, then they're going to get a false negative if testing at 9-10 dpo! And even the person who implants at 9-10 dpo can get a false negative because HcG takes a while to build up after implantation.

So, good luck and keep us posted+++++++++++++
