This is my 2nd IVF cycle. I'm on day 6 of follistim and menopur. My previous us and bw on Sat. resulted in an increase in follistim. My estrogen level was 48 and the nurse said it is normally 100. I'm concerned because I only have 5 follicules that are to small to measure during todays us and bw. I'm don't know if I should be concerned because I don't know what the average # of follicules and size should be. Anyone around day 6? I take any info. Thanks

Definitely post on the IVF board, you'll get tons of info on there.
I did want to say that when it comes to IF, there is no such thing as "averages" - number of follicles, size of follicles, or E2 levels - on any give day in a cycle. Everyone stims differently - some respond faster, some not so well. Shame on your nurse for implying you should stim the same as everyone else. Certainly on cd6 follicles are small, and since E2 is produced by the follicles, it too will be low. You will see a big change in a few days. I am also concerned about the nurse toying around with your protocol based on what she thinks "should" be seen. I certainly hope she is running it by your doctor before she changes your protocol. Whenever a nurse tells you to make a change, always ask if the DOCTOR has seen your results and if that's what HE recommends. I learned the hard way that at my clinic sometimes the nurses think they know more than they actually do. Good luck! |
