Mason's Mom Level 1
My 1st RE appt was today!

I went to my 1st RE appt today. He said that he didn't understand why my clomid had been increased to 150 mg and finally 200mg. I got pregnant at 100mg, then m/c. He said that upping the dose of clomid can actually PREVENT pregnancy. So, I'm on nothing this month (today is cd12). He sees me again on cd14 to check my follicle and then if no pg this month, he's starting me back on clomid 100mg. He's also taking me OFF Estradiol and Prometrium. He said that my OB/GYN had me on too much medication.

What's everyone's opinion about this? Is this good? I'm actually relieved that he's not putting me straight on injectibles.

Nina

Hey Nina! Interesting about the Clomid... I don't know much about Clomid dosages, but it's certainly worth a try (and I'm all for letting your body try to do it on its own if it can!)....

Good luck this month and keep us posted+++++++++++

i agree with maura. and i would probably put a little more faith in the RE (assuming he's a good one) than the OB. "RE's" specialize in reproduction vs the "OB" whose specialty is obstetrics and gynocology...KWIM?

Glad your appt went well and SO glad he's taken you off that huge dose of Clomid.

When he checks your follie, will he be checking your lining too?

Hoping for a rest cycle miracle for you!

I don't know if he's going to be checking the lining or not. Should I ask him while he's doing the scan?

Definitely ask!

They measure the lining at the same time they are measuring follies. Doesn't take but 10 seconds extra.

Clomid can stay in your body for 50+ days, so although you didn't take any this cycle, what you took last cycle could still be affecting your lining.

Hope you have a nice ripe follie and a lush lining!
Let us know how it goes.

I hope your RE is on the right track. I bet you feel better not having to be on so many meds. Good luck!

So, I went for the follow up today. My follicle size didn't change at all. (cd14) Still 19mm. I'm bummed. My RE sees me again Saturday, (cd16). He checked my uterus but didn't tell me the result. What does all this mean?

Don't be discouraged. A 19mm follie on cd14 is right on target! The fact that it didn't change could simply be a variation in the way the measurement was taken. If you had a different person doing the u/s, they could be measuring differently. Also, although machines are supposed to be calibrated, sometimes different machines give different measurments (we are only talking about millimeters here!) Thirdly, follies are not always perfectly round. Some clinics measure two dimensions (eg. 17x19 mm), some just one (eg. taking an average). And lastly, sometimes they do the scan so fast they're not taking the time to be exact.

Don't worry too much. Sounds like things are on track so far for this cycle.

Are you doing OPK's? Will you be doing IUI or natural this cycle?

I'd start BMSing - a 19mm follie sounds like O is coming soon!

Good luck!

I just did an OPK and there was a slightly faint second line. It looks like tomorrow it'll be a ++. (fingers crossed)! It was the same doctor and same machine that took the scan today. If the OPK is ++ tomorrow or the next day, will my follicle get bigger? I can't o at 19mm can I?

Thank you all for your positive thoughts. I just had a little pity party in bed for an hour before i took the OPK. I'm trying to keep my chin up. I'm feeling broken, though.
