Tanning
My friend posted a message to webmd but did not get a response and so she asked me to ask you ladies. She is like 11dpo and took a hpt and got BFN. She has convinced herself she is not pg because on her last pg she got a + 5 days before AF. Anyway she wants to go tanning once Af has come and was wondering if it has any affects on ttc. What do you girls think?

Hi Angie: I definitely wouldn't go tanning at 11 dpo because the HPT could EASILY be wrong and I probably wouldn't go tanning at all when I'm ttc just because like houndlover, I didn't do anything that could potentially jeopardize my chance of a successful pg. I don't know whether there's any actual risk, but you have to also take into account the fact that I am not a fan of tanning period! So, that's the bias I come to this question with!
I'll see if I can find anything on it, though .Best of luck to your friend+++++++++++++ Maura |

i don't think i would be tanning while ttc either. tanning uses radiation to promote the tan. unless she's talking about a spray on tan, but i don't think i'd do that either. who knows what chemicals are in that stuff

Hi Angie: Here is a link to an article talking about pregnancy and tanning which suggests that it's probably ok while ttc generally (although it doesn't specifically say so), but that it might be better to avoid it during the first trimester (and so if there's any question of pg, like in the 2ww, perhaps it's best to avoid it). Best +++++++++++++++Maura |
