Hi Sheila: I disagree with FF for this reason. With cycles as unpredictable as yours have been, I think it's a mistake to use statistics to set your fertile period and give you specific dates to start and end BMS. For example, let's assume you have a cycle this month that is identical to the one you just had. As I said yesterday, with a 55 day cycle, your O should be between cd 39 and 43. Counting cd 1 on 11/2, would put your possible O period between 12/10 and 12/14. If you follow FF, then you would stop BMS on 12/8 and totally miss your O which wouldn't occur until after that (and perhaps a week after!).
I think your best bet is to watch your cm closely, and start BMSing at least around 12/3, never letting more than 3 days go by beween sessions and stepping it up during times of cramping and/or very wet cm. But tell me your shortest cycle again and your average cycle? Based on those 2 pieces of information, we might want to adjust your BMS start date! I will check back+++++++++++++++++ Maura |

thanks so much for the help, my max cycle has been 58, my shortest 41 average now just changed to 50.
I also was told on FF that I need to take SOY ??? and this will have me O earlier? I have never heard of it. They said its the natural version of clomid and yo dont need a prescription??

Hi Sheila:
Ok, using your average cycle of 50 days, then you should O between cd 34 and cd 38 (12/5-12/10).... Using your shortest cycle of 41 days, you should O between cd 25 and 29 (11/26-11/30).... Using your longest cycle of 58 days, you should O between cd 42 and cd 46 (12/13-12/17).... So! If I were you, I'd start the "regular" BMS on 11/26 and I'd BMS at least every 3 days from 11/26 until 12/17 and I would step it up between 12/5 - 12/14 (maybe every 2 days and definitely any day that you saw ewcm or otherwise fertile cm .. and any day that you had cramping or twinges or spotting). As for the soy, I think I have heard something about soy... I'll look into it. I know that people also take Vitex (Chasteberry) instead of Clomid. You might want to check over on the alternative treatment bb too. Good luck and keep in touch +++++++++++Maura |

Gee DH is going to love that schedule, lol, man that is such a long time span to try and catch, I hope we can learn more with temps, but then again, I hope , as we all do, that it doesn't take more than a month or two to get a BFP!!
Thanks! Sheila

I know.. it IS a long time! With temps, though, you should be able to know whether it's ok to "shut the shop down" on BMS for the month
. I hope you O earlier this cycle!Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++ Maura |

Hi Sheila: after O, your temp should rise at least .2 degree higher than your previous 6 temps before the rise and then stay up for the rest of your 2ww. Here's an example:
cd 9 97.1 cd 10 97.4 cd 11 97.3 cd 12 97.2 cd 13 97.1 cd 14 97.3 cd 15 97.9 cd 16 97.8 cd 17 98.0 In this case, you would have ouvulated on cd 14 with a coverline of 97.5 (you draw the coverline .1 degree higher than your highest of the 6 preceding temps) ... you will want your temps to stay above 97.5 until AF or ++HPT .As for cm, ewcm= clear, stretchy cm. It's literally like eggwhite! And lotiony is usually not clear, but rather milky white. It can be watery or have more substance. The progression is usually from nothing, to sticky/tacky/gluey to creamy/lotiony/watery to slippery/clear/strechy. Hope that helps! Good luck+++++++++++++++ Maura |
