i believe that excessively late O doesn't produce a healthy and viable egg. that said, i know a few ppl that tend to be late O'rs and have had healthy pg's and babies.
here's a link to the TCOYF gallery where there were plenty of conceptions with late O'tion. http://www.ovusoft.com/ourtcoyf/gall....asp?typeid=21

Hi Trinity: I've heard the same thing Dina has ... that late O may mean that the egg is not as fertile once it releases ... that said, I've also heard of people here (and seen charts on other sites) where women O relatively late in their cycle and conceive. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? Maybe he/she has some ideas.
Good luck +++++++++++++++Maura |

Trinity -
Hey me and my ob had a long discussion about this very topic and I will share with you what he said to me. Your lining reaches a certain thickness through your cycle. When you ovulate on say CD14 (on a 30dy cycle) then your lining is thick and plentyful for a fertilized egg to embed itself in a healthy environment. The later in the cycle you ovulate the thinner that lining becomes and that is what causes some miscarriages. Because if you O say on CD 24 on a 30 dy cycle then that lniing is already started the shedding process (getting ready for AF). So not matter if an egg was fertilized and all was great the lining is no longer healhty for implantation and your body will dispose during your period even if it was a healthy embryo. He said this happens to alot of women and they will never even know it.. NOW the good part is that if you O on CD 23 one month the next month you could very well O on CD 14 or 16 where the lining is still plentiful. Like last month I O'd on CD 22 and my cycle was 35 days that month. This past month I O'd closer to 12-14 and I am actually pg ![]() Or like these ladies said there are some women that are able to have healthy preg's with very late implantation. But from the way he explained it that is why alot of Doc's correct it with Chlomid that will force you to O earlier in your cycle where your body has enough time to recognize the implanted egg and not dispose during its monthly shedding. I hope I didnt ramble too much, I hope that made sense.

Kat: I know! Clomid is used to create a better egg and to cause O earlier in the cycle, and yet it often has the result of delaying O until cd 20 or later. Also, it is used to better linings, yet can have the result of thinning the lining. It's a confusing med for sure!

Clomid has MANY uses. They use it for luteal phase defects, late ovulation, force ovulation, over ovulatino. There are a bunch of things.
I dont believe late ovulation. Im not an expert though lol. That is why you can do clomid on 3-7 day or 5-9 depending on where the Dr wants your O to occur. That is what I understood it. Helps make sure you O in a normal luteal phase. Like me with annovulation they were gonna give me provera to get AF and Clomid to force ovulation at the correct time in the month. Because I was O'ing Day 21+

Thanks for the info MommaRitz and congrats! I asked my dr. about it, and he said late O can or cannot be a problem, all depends on the person. He said there is really no way to know. I don't think thin lining is my problem, as with my miscarriage I never shed my lining, had to have a D+C. The baby just stopped growing.
I am going to a RE to evaluate why, but in the mean time...thanks again ladies.
