If I were you I would I would start opk and temping. Depending on what your findings are you may or may want to talk to your dr. Although i do have a friend who has 26 day cycles and she got pg her first try. I know not fair. At least you know it is possible. Good luck!

Hi Libby: The usual treatment for a short luteal phase is progesterone supplements, although I think some people also try vitamin B-6 (or is it B-12?!) and other alternative remedies. The women on the alt. tx bb might have some suggestions.

As for finding out whether you have a short LP, temping and OPKs are very helpful. Even women who have a clockwork 28 day cycle can still have a short LP if they are ovulating later than cd 16 ...if you want to start bbting, we can help get you started! Otherwise, OPKs might be a good first step towards figuring out when you O.

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++

hi libby

yep...i'm one of those women that maura mentioned with the perfect 28 day cycle with LPD

i agree the best thing for you to do right now is get in tune with your body. figure out when you're O'ing vs when you get AF. we'll be glad to help you any way we can.

P.S. i was taking ER vitamin B6 and was put on 250mg progest 2x a day.

maybe I will try OPK this next month and see what happens....

Libby-I know just what you mean about the obsession thing-I just started OPKing again this cycle. I don't want to temp again because I am afraid I'll obsess too much again. My dh says he doesn't mind ttc just as long as I don't "get all crazy" as he puts it-LOL-Hey I was on Clomid at the time and hormones were raging, what's a girl to do. Good Luck!

Lpd

My understanding is that there can be several reasons for a short luteal phase. People who ovulate day 20 or later and have short luteal may have poor follicular development or low progesterone and regular cycle with LPD are more likely to have problems with just progesterone. This is the way I understood when my doc explained but check and make sure I have it right!
