AF agian

Hey ladies just thought I would let you know that AF came early Saturday so no baby this month. So onto next month. my dh is liking all this trying but me not so much. i have a general question and would like your input. Do you think it is true that if you have BMS every day the sperm is weaker. I have heard a lot lately that you should have sex no more than every other day. I recently read an article that said twice a week is good if you are trying to concieve to ensure you have the strongest sperm. I was just wondering what you ladies have heard and think about this.

I'm so sorry about the bad news.

My OB/GYN told me to BMS every other day.
My RE also says every other day, but as often as we like after IUI, and in fact encourages BMS that night and the next morning. He says fresh sperm can survive up to 72 hours, washed sperm up to 12 hours but numbers drop by 1/2 after 5 hours.

Here's what we did the cycle we had 3 IUI's:

We BMS'd every other day from about cd9 until LH surge, per RE's orders (we measured LH with bloodwork).
The day I surged (cd 12 I think) we BMSed that night. Went the next a.m. for IUI and had 30 million troopers after wash, which is not our best number, but a good number. That night, we BMSed again. Next day, we did 2nd IUI and had 25 million troopers after wash. We also did more bloodwork to check on LH surge and realized I my LH peak was THAT day (it was higher than the day before), so RE said the day before's IUI was probably to early and wanted us to come in the next day for a 3rd IUI. The same day as the 2nd IUI, we BMSed that night. Then went in the next morning for the 3rd IUI and had 27 million troopers after wash.

We BMSed every 12 hours for 4 days during the IUIs and still had good numbers.

Happy BMSing next cycle! (won't DH be happy )

I'm so sorry about AF. From what I've read, where there's no male factor issues, it's ok to BMS every day as long as you leave 24 hours in between sessions to allow for sperm rejuvenation. And if 3 or more days transpire without BMS, you run the risk of sluggish sperm that have been sitting around too long. So, it's good to have regular and frequent BMS when you're ttc. Because I ovulate between cd 12 and 20, I would start having BMS on cd 9 and would never let more than 2 days pass before BMSing again. I would always BMS on cds 13-15 and then I would keep going every day until my temp rose and I knew I'd ovulated! Worked for us.

Good luck and I hope this new month is THE month. Keep us posted!
