Question on Clomid
First - I'll introduce myself. I'm Pam from Phoenix. I'm almost 37 and have a DS (who is 3.5). Dh and I have been trying for #2 for 12 months. Recently diagnosed with fibroid on left side (had this with DS too), ovarian cyst on left side and failure to ovulate with low hormomones. I've just done my first round of clomid after a HSG. I'm on CD26 and 11 dpo. Temps have been nice and high and since 5-6 dpo I've been feeling like AF is coming (not norma). Last night I was exteremly hot, could not sleep, breasts super sore and very crampy. I had a night like this at roughly 10dpo with DS and last night would have sworn I was pregnant. This morning - termps are down to coverline. Very crampy and would swear AF is coming - nothing as yet and very hot today. Odd thing is that my leutal phase is normally 12-13 days. This would be 10 days. Does Clomid ever shorten your leutal phase??? I would have thought it would have lengthened it?
Any advice here would help Pamster

Hi Pam and welcome to the bb
. From what I've seen Clomid can change around your cycle any which way, but the vast majority of times it tends to delay O and lengthen one's LP, not shorten it. Maybe these feelings are a good sign ?! The temp dip today does not necessarily mean AF is coming. Mine dipped to my coverline THREE times when I was pg with dd .Keep temping and let's see what happens! Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++++ Maura |

I actually have 2 fibroids, possibly 4. I'm not sure of the type, they are inside the uterus but not intermurals. I did have them with my first pregnancy. I was unaware of them prior to my pregnancy. The assumption is that they were most likely present prior to pregnancy, but very small. Fibroids tend to grow during pregnancy due to the hormone increases. They were found at my first ob-gyn appt at 7 weeks. It took me 5 months to get pregnant the first time and achieved pregnancy the first month I temped. During my pregnancy the largest one achieved 9mm and the second largest 6mm. The other two were quite small. That was 3.5 years ago. As of 2 months ago, the large one is still present and roughly 4mm, the smaller one 2mm. The other two were not found during the ultrasound and are assumed to be gone or very small. I recently had a HSG and it indicated that none of them are blocking my tubes. I don't know at this point if they are the source of any of my current issues.
They did not really bother me during pregnancy - just a few aches from time to time. SInce then they have rarely bothered me except for an occassional ache. To date, none have my doctors have been particularly concerned about them since they aren't they type that chagnes the uterine shape. I have my first RE appt in October though, so may find out more then. |

Hi again: Just chiming in about uterine shape, etc. I had a minor septum which my OB -- if she even noticed it -- didn't think would affect my fertility (I had had two m/cs, with a long period where I couldn't conceive at all) .... but when I saw an RE, he said that it could definitely have caused my m/cs and my dry spell by interfering with implantation (providing poor blood supply to a growing pg) ... don't know if fibroids in the uterus would be similar to a septum, but just throwing it out there. I DID even up pg twice successfully after the septum was removed, by the way
.Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++++ Maura |

Hi Pamster and welcome to this BB. I tried the "devil" drug(that's what I call Clomid for 6 cycles when I was with my OB/Gyn and it does tend to lengthen your cycle and delay O. Never heard of it shortening the cycle but you never know...
I too have fibroids but they are on the outside of my Uterus and I had no problems while conceiving or when I was pg. They were very small. I was dx Unexplained anyway so my fibroids wasn't a factor that prevent me from getting pg. My OB and then my RE did check them regularly to make sure they weren't growing. Good luck and keep us posted ok. +++++++++++++++++++
