Clomid and delayed Ovulation

I am on my first cycle of clomid 50 on days 5-9. I am currently using OPK to detect my LH surge. In the past my LH surge occured on CD 12 or 13, it is now CD 16 with no LH surge. Is this normal on Clomid?

Hi: Yes, it's totally normal. Clomid is notorious for delaying O and many women don't O until cd 20 or even later while on Clomid.

Keep OPKing and I bet you will see your surge soon!

Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++++

Thanks Maura,

I just switched brands of OPK because I thought maybe it was the brand. Of course this a.m. I am questioning the results of the new OPK. It looks as if the test stripe is the same color as control but it isn't the same thickness/concentration. I am having my first IUI this cycle so I don't know if I should call or just retest later today to confirm. I am stressing myself out ALREADY and my day hasn't started yet!!!!

Hi: I don't know what brand you are using, but I recommend ClearPlan Easy very highly as a reliable brand with usually unambiguous results!

I would definitely test again today just to see whether you get a more clear result!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++

a friend of mine who's normally a day 14-15 O'er didn't O until day 17-19 on clomid. it's pretty much expected to have a late O while taking clomid.

I think that is totally normal. I would O on cd 21 when I was only on clomid. I'm now on clomid and repronex so it's a little earlier. I definitely would test again today. Good luck!!!!

Thanks for all the information and support. I took another O test later in the day and it proved positive So tomorrow I go for my IUI and start progesterone on the day after my 2nd IUI. I am excited and nervous -- fingers are crossed.
