question for you ladies

Today I brought First Response early result pregancy test kit. It says you can test 5 days before your missed period ????? Has anyone used this one I'm so afraid of a false - neg I am 7dpiui today 8/19 I thought my RE was going to do a beta 14dpiui next Friday but I was told to wait till Monday which I'm not happy about. So I thought I would test on Friday then I saw this test kit and thought maybe testing on Monday ???? What do you experts think ?????
thanks
Laura

Hi Laura: The longer you can wait to test, the better your chances for an accurate result. I think FR's claim to be able to show a ++ 5 days before AF is due is very misleading! Maybe it has the ABILITY to do that where someone has a LP of 14 days or longer and implanted early (i.e., implanted at 6 dpo and so an HPT could show a ++ at 9-10 dpo), but it can't possibly guarantee that result in all cases! For example, what if someone has a LP of 13 dpo, but didn't implant until 12 dpo. In that case, taking the HPT at 8 dpo would show a negative -- falsely!

So, like any other HPT, FR can only show a ++ where there has been enough time after implantation for HcG levels to show up in urine. And plenty of people implant too close to when AF is due for FR to guarantee a ++ 5 days before AF is due!

Enough of my rant. If I were you, I would wait until you are at least 12 dpo, if not 14 dpo, to use an HPT. And if you test any earlier than that, make sure you tell yourself that it could just be too early for you to see a ++ (and remember that up to 10% of pg women will get a false negative even when testing at the time AF is due!!)

Good luck and let us know how you make out+++++++

i couldn't agree more. i don't like FRED, and would try and wait if you can.

i know it's so difficult. the 2ww is the longest 2 weeks in the world. but overall, i think the accuracy of those tests stink, so it's better to wait and be more comfortable in getting accurate results.

good luck!

Congratulations, babidius.

Yes, probably just about every HPT out there has the capability of giving someone a ++ that early! But where I object to FR and the other so-called "early detection" HPTs is that they cause a lot of heartache by suggesting that if you are pg, you will get a ++HPT using their brand 5 days before AF is due. So, people who test 5 days early and get a negative are SO disappointed..... even when they could well be pg!

Good luck to all testers++++++++++++++

HI laura, so good to hear from you hon'. I had no problems with FR. I got a + as early as 11dpo but it all depends on how comfortable you feel with a particular brand. Whatever the decision you make in when to test I want to wish you +++++++++++++thoughts and ood luck.

Good luck hon'.

Congratulation babidius!!!
