Need opinions please!

I am struggling with a question my RE has asked Dh and I. And I was wondering if I could get insight on what you gals think.
My RE wants to know if Dh and I would donate our embryos? Or put them up for adoption if we have any left?
I am struggling with this because I know what it feels not to be able to become a mother naturally, but on the other hand I don't know how it would effective me if I did, I guess I am scared to.
Have any of you done this? What do you think?

Wow, that is an interesting question. I dont really know what I would do, but I did want to tell you to try posting this exact question on the IVF board and maybe even the General Parenting Board and the Debate Board in Community Forum (although the Debate board sometimes gets too emotional). I think that some of the women in those rooms will have a better view on the situation.

Hi: That's a hard decision... I can't say what I would do if I were you in your shoes ... I'm sure there are people at FT who have been, though ... if no one here answers, I think posting on those other bbs suggested is a good idea.

What does dh think? The more you two talk, maybe the right path for you will become more clear... I hope so!

wow....this is a hard question that would probably require a lot of soul searching.

i can tell you from my own (personal) point of view (only b/c dh and i have discussed this in the past) that i don't think i would be able to do it. i think it's the most wonderful gift in the world, if it's something that you can live with. i know i would probably do it for one of my sisters in a heartbeat, but i don't know if i donated it, that i could accept the fact that i had a child out there that was not mine. did that make sense?

dh felt differently. he didn't feel that it would be our child, because it was a few cells, not a person. i disagreed, as it would be our child, made up of our genes and DNA.

i think it's one of those issues that could have many different views and perspectives. but it comes down to your own personal view, and if you'd be ok with it.
