Why do I torture myself....

So I had my last blood drawn last Friday and I'm assuming that my HCG was back to 0 or close to it because they never called me back. I think I ovulated around Aug 6-7....We dtd a few times before I realized that we should be using protection...I did a hpt this morning and got a faint faint line....It was so faint that I thought it was an evap but it came up in less than 10 minutes. uuggg, here we go again. Do you think it's possible that there's still a small amount of HCG in my system and that these hpt's are too sensitive (it's the blue handled internet ones) or do you think it could be new HCG? The line is darker now and still has color. Do you think that a real line would get darker in time or do you think that it's an evap cause it's darker? I brought it with me to work and the line is pretty dark now...like I dont even need to have it close to my face to see it. I guess I will retest tomorrow morning and see if it gets darker....I guess that's the only way to know if it's new or not. I think it must be cause I was taking the hpt's last week to make sure the HCG was gone and I got a few neg ones.

Why do I do this to myself!!!! I'm sure it must be an evap....

Sorry for the rambling but it felt good to get it out!

Hi Kristina! Have you been getting regular betas to track your HcG from the last pg and if so, what was your last number and when?

It's impossible to say what's going on, unfortunately. I would definitely call your doctor today if you haven't. It's important to try to get to the bottom of whether you have new HcG or whether it's residual and another beta is the place to start!

I hope that it's new and you are on your way!

Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++++++

kristina......i think it could go either way at this point. i remember you saying you thought you were O'ing so i checked back on your old post, and it was 2 weeks ago.

so i would first ask you what maura did about your last blood test.

I have been going back to get beta's to followthem to 0...The last one that I knew the number of was 8/3 and it was 70. I had another one 8/12 and they never called me back...I just called and left a message for the nurse to see what that number was....I totally thought AF was coming yesterday....cramps, spotting, sore @@ the whole works. Now today no spotting. UUGGGG !

I have another question....Is it possible to O and get pg if you still have the HCG in your system? If my HCG wasnt down to 0 last week, I'm thinking it's unlikely that this is a new pg. I'm just wondering because if the HCG was only down to 70 on 8/3 then I didnt thik it would go back to 0 in time for me to O less than a week later...I dont have any hopes up at all but I am wondering whats going on....I was still waiting for a normal AF. Have you ever heard about someone getting pg in between a m/c and the next normal AF?

kristina....i'm not 100% sure of your first question (about the hcg having too be back down to zero) but yes, i have known ppl that have gotten pg inbetween a m/c and a normal AF. as we discussed before ( i think it was you?) you have to O before you can get AF, so it can happen.

why don't you call your doc and have them do b/w? that might help clarify whether this is new hcg that's being picked up on the hpt.

Hi Kristina: I think it IS possible to ovulate even when you still have HcG circulating from an old pg... when I had my molar, my doctor was tracking my HcG to make sure it went back to 0 ... and I was strictly forbidden to have unprotected intercourse during that time because she said it would make it hard to know whether the HcG was from the new or old pg .... so I would think that if it wasn't possible to get pg with residual HcG that she would have said "don't worry about unprotected sex; you can't get pg now anyway"! Know what I mean?

So, I would call your doctor to, first ask what was your last beta number and second, tell her/him about this potentially positive HPT. I'll bet they'll want to see you again for another beta!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++

ok the nurse just called me back and said my hcg last Friday (8/12) was 25....I'm thinking the test from this morning is still left-over....Man those tests are sensitive! She is going to show the doctor and see if they want me to come in 1 more time to make it went back to 0. I guess then I'll know for sure and I can finally get off this roller coaster! Thanks for listening girls

Hi Kristina: UGH! How frustrating! I would definitely go in for another beta to make sure it goes to 0 ... you just never know!

All the best++++++++++
