New Here, Introduction, Question

Hi All,

I am new to this site and new to chatting online. I am very unfamiliar with the abbreviations, so please bear with me until I learn! I have been off birth control for 4 1/2 years with no luck. We have had a few tests and everything seems fine. I am going to try Mucinex this month to thin out my cm. Maybe that will work.

I have few questions about the abbreviations. Most I can figure out, but there are a few I don't know. Can you guys help me?

These are the ones I don't know: BFN, BFP, DH, DD, DS, DMS. I'm sure I'll come across more later, but for now that's it. Also, has anyone heard if the use of personal lubricant like KY affects the sperm or impedes getting pregnant?

Any info. is much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome aadams!

These are the abbreviations you asked for (although I'm sorry, but I don't know what "DMS" is):

DH Dear Husband
DD Dear Daughter
DS Dear Son

On the above menu, you can click on "acronyms" and get the complete list (although I checked and DMS is not on the list). Good luck!

welcome aadams!!!!

i think shush answered your abbreviations question.

as for the lubircant, i beleive there's a lubricant out there called "pre seed" that is supposed to be more conception friendly that the others. they claim they're the only "sperm friendly" lubricant, so i would look into that.

good luck! we look forward to seeing you here.

Thanks

Thank you so much. It is really great to know that people care. I am glad to know there is a menu, I'll check it out. I saw the abbreviation DMS when someone was talking about dmsing close to O. I guess they meant to have sex, but I didn't know what dms actually stood for.

We've been using astroglide which says it's not a spermicide, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the advice. Am I the only one who needs to use a lubricant? Is that weird?

Hi aadams and welcome to the bb!

I think maybe the person who said DMS meant BMS. BMS=baby-making sex!

And no you are not weird for needing lubricant! Lots of women do just as a matter of course and some women do when they are on Clomid, which tends to dry things up.

Good luck and hope to see you around++++++++++

aadams: I don't think that is weird at all! It is very difficult to time sex perfectly AND be ready to go when the time is right (if you know what I mean )...I need lubricant too. In fact, I have been doing some research. I found a new product that I am interested in, but I don't know much about it. I have posted on the General Infertility Board to see if anyone knows more. This is the link:

http://www.beyondfertility.com/catal...3D1%3Fpage%3D1

About "DMS"...I have seen sex referred to as "BMS" or "Baby Making Sex" and "BD" or "Baby Dance." Maybe the person meant to write one of these two (or maybe they meant "Daughter Making Sex"...i.e. timing sex appropriately for gender selection). Who knows? Just a guess. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Hi shush. I can't open your link because I'm on a laptop that doesn't allow it for some reason? But, I will when I get back to my desktop. Anyway, the only lubricant that I have heard people getting pg with is the Preseed that Dina mentioned. But maybe there's a new product out there?

Anyway, I'll check back later for that link!

++++++++++++++++best

i think the fact that astroglide notes it not being a "spermicide" is to remind ppl that it shouldn't be used in place of BC should they be trying to avoid pg. however, in a case where you ARE TTC, it might not be the best choice because the ingredients don't allow sperm to move freely. so in as much as it may not "kill" them, we still want them to be able to move and get where they need to be

Thanks again ladies. Your tips on the lube are helpful. I think it did say BMS and I just remembered it wrong But thanks for the tips! I am going to try to time BMS and use the Mucinex this cycle (cd10 right now). I usually o on day 18 so we are going to bms on days 13, 15, 17, and 19. Should I still use the opk sticks?
