Question Need Progestrone Help!!!

Greetings to all!! I have not been here for a long time. However, I need your help...... Through years of ttc #1 and finding I had endometriosis, we were finally able to conceive thru several iui's. HOwever, we are ttc #2 for the past 5 months. I have NEVER had my #'s jump around like this. HELP ME UNDERSTAND THESE!!! Here are my stats:
LAP IN APRIL: endometriosis back and worse but cleaned up
IUI in May: failed Prog. 4.0 on Day 22 WHat is up with that!!! I have never had them that low even without the meds!!!
June: multiple cysts in ovary from failed cycle.
July: vacation
Aug: iui on 8/8 and Prog. just came back as 4.1

What is up with this???? My RE's nurse was trying to be very hopeful and even told me she has someone right now that only had Prog. of 5 and is pg. Now come on, how is this possible???? Prog. registers how well you ovulated. I have never been this low. Before my son, I would register in the 20's without any hcg.

Please help me understand this and if there is any chance I could still be pg? My nurse didnt seem concerned, should I be? What would you say my alternatives be b/c of this? I just dont understand.

answering questions

Aug. cycle: Took follistim with blwk of estradial & u/s; took hcg on 8/6 due to size of follicles & iui on 8/8; then progesterone level on cd21 which was only 4.1. I hope this helps. I know that on a regular cycle it should be around 10 for most women and 15 on medicated cycle. The last two times, it was only 4.0 & 4.1. I have never had that!!! I know I am not near menopause b/c I had my bldwk done for that too and it is ok. I am 33.

Hi Chances: The most common explanation for low progesterone on a cd 21 (or so) test is that the test was done too soon after O! I know you said you had u/s and HcG trigger... but maybe you actually O'd later than they thought you were going to and so your prog. was just done too early. With your May cycle, did AF come later than you thought it would?

Otherwise, I think it's definitely something to talk over with your doctor and not just the nurse. Prog. is just too important for a successful pg not to be comfortable with the level. Yes, some pg women have done fine with relatively low prog. numbers, but most doctors like to see 10 or above in pg -- if not 15 or 20.

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++++
Maura

chances....i'm sorry i didn't see your reply to this until now. but it looks like maura caught my back. thx maura!

i agree with everything that maura said. i think you need to speak to your doc doc directly about this. if you're dealing with a progesterone defficiency, it's one of the easiest things to correct. however an imbalance of it, will prevent you from maintaining a pg.

i don't think it's impossible for you to be pg with a progest level of 4, but i would think most docs would want to supplement you with that low of a number.

best wishes...and please let us know how it goes.
