prog supp question...dina? do you know?

Hi all,

I am on progesterone suppositories for LP issues and am on a fairly low dose (from what I have read here) - 50mg once a day. I put one in at night before bed but it really doesn't seem like it gets absorbed. The following day when I use the bathroom I am seeing most of it (or what seems like most of it) on the tp. What do you think this means? Does your body not absorb it if you don't need it (I remember someone here saying that your body only uses what it needs and gets rid of any excess)? Or could it be that I need another kind of prog supplementation?

Thanks for any thoughts. I am currently 10dpiui.

Hi Lisa: I used prog. supps for about a week once and I experienced the same thing. What you're seeing, I think, is not the prog. coming out but the "packaging", now melted by your body heat. I forget what they make those prog. supps out of, but I know it melts a lot! I think you're probably getting just what you need. (If you have any concerns, though, you can always call your doctor).

How are things with you? We've missed you!

P.s. I was going to say they're made of wax... and I just checked and they are. So, that's what you're seeing. Check out this link:

hi lisa...what maura said is right. the base of the suppositiory is made of wax and that's what the body discards. it's totally normal to see the excess in the morning. i guess it's comprable to like a monistat cream where the body gets what it needs, ut most of the cream comes out...KWIM?
