O Question

Ok girls, back to basics here....Today is CD 13...I havent been doing BBT (I forgot the first few days uugg!) I have been using the ovulation predictor strips...I havent gotten a positive yet but I've read that they dont always work for us with PCOS. I have been having a little cramping on my left side today as if something is going on down there today. We had BMS on CD 11 and we will tonight...My question - How long does it take for the sperm to reach where the egg would be? Like if I am ovulating today/tomorrow sometime and we BMS tonight, is that too late? I figured that we would just have BMS every other day this month to be safe and every day if and when I got the pos strip...Am I just being way paranoid that we will miss it ? And, when you feel cramping and stuff near O, would that actually be the egg releasing or do you get crampy before or after? So many questions sorry!

Kristina: You should be fine as long as you are BMSing regularly, which you are. Cramping and other twinges can take place before, during or after O, so they're not much help in pinpointing O (they are helpful in just giving you a general sense that it's O-time) ... if you are ovulating today, BMS tonight should be fine since the egg can stick around for 12-24 hours post-release. Also, your BMS on cd 11 could do the trick since sperm can stick around for up to 3-5 days depending on the quality of your cm.

Just BMS as soon as you can, keep OPKing just in case it works, and start taking your temp if you want so that you can try to catch O in your temps. And I would BMS tomorrow too (leaving 24 hours in between sessions) just in case it is O time (assuming no male factor, though, in which case you should probably stick to every other day).

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++
Maura

hi krisitna....good luck! i think maura covered everything for you.

P.S. i always got some aches and twinges right before I o'd, with a rather destinct and painful feeling for a few hours (which is probably the egg rupturing through the follicle) and then back to achiness for a few days after.

Thanks Guys,
I've decided to just "breathe"....My DH tells me all the time that I get too worked up over stuff haha! I figure every other day/every day all month should hit the O so I'll just keep doing it that way

I will let yall know how this month turns out! It's going to be a long 2 weeks...
