Question that everyone has to have:
If we BMS as soon as we find a ++ on a OPK, keep BMSing at least every other day throughout the O timeframe ( about 6 days) is there something that we need to also be doing to actually get a BFP?? I know that there are others that have been trying longer and have had to try this or that, but I so want to understand what does it take to have a baby? For something that is so natural, what makes us different? I am glad that we are all around to see that it is not only I or yourself, but I wish that we could all get what we all pray for. I guess I need to be about 15 years old and not married.... maybe that would solve it!! ( that was just for a laugh...mean no harm, in fat my sister was 16 and had a beautiful baby) Hugs to all.. Kat

Check out my latest post. http://www3.fertilethoughts.com/foru...d.php?t=328137
Even when we do everything possible, it won't help get a BFP! It is so frustrating but it is something I have learned is just the way it is for me. There is something to be said about getting pregnant earlier in life. I imagine that is why people got married a long time ago very early. Fertility was peak then. It wasn't until the later generations where we waited to get married that more problems with infertility has come to light. But we had started TTC when I was 27 years old...not exactly a geriatric patient. But I found out that I had endometriosis and there is no doubt that my condition worsens over time so I probably was more fertile as a teenager. Yes, you would think something so natural would be easy but it isn't. I wish that wasn't the case.

kat....believe it or not, for a healthy young couple, where all circumstances are ideal, there's only a 25% chance of acheiving pg on any given month. throw into that mix a few monkey wrenches (ie: age, MF, endo, etc) and you have decreased your success rate even further.
obviously if you're dealing with any specific issues, the first order of business is to tend to that issue first. if you have no issues that, and you're just patiently waiting to conceive, you can do exctly what you're doing. zero in on your O date, and barring no MF issues, BMS everynight from the time you get your ++ OPK, until you know O is already complete. stay away from things that you know hinder conception ie: alcohol, drugs, smoking, hot tubs, or anyting else that your common sense tells you, you should avoid. if you're TTC and have had no success and have not seen a doctor about it, do NOT wait. follow the guidelines of under 35, give it a year, 35 or over 6 mos. sometimes tthe littlest things could be out of whack. they could be easily corrected, but will prevent you from getting pg if not treated. best wishes for a short and sweet journey

Thanks Ladies. It is just so mind blowing about this topic. I am 27 and hubby is 25, both b-days around August, so we are not too old to be trying. We have not been preventing for over a year and I started really TTC around December when he got his masters. That was with home O tests and such, and now this month will be with the clearblue monitor as well. I will look for a OB here and I think I will give it this month and if it does not go well, will go in. ( had my yearly in January, so that is not due)
I am trying to lose weight and I know that becomes a big issue, but my last ob did not even want to talk to me because of being alittle big. My thought is that I am activly trying and if I lose weight in the degree of what is healthy, I would be in my 30's and I really do not want to wait that long to be trying, ya know. My weight gain was from medication I had taken years ago from an head injury, and I am blessed with being alive. I have a friend that states that I need to go BMS next to a big ugly dumpster and that will cure all.... when we were on the road, it was a thought.... lol!! Crossing fingers and counting my blessings everyday... Kat |

kat, there is no scientific eveidence that proves that being overwieight will hinder conceiving. it can probably make pg harder on your body, only b/c pg already adds an enormous amount of stress to your body, so extra weight will only strain you more. however, there' are millions of overwieght women out there that get pg and have totally healthy pg's. i would see no reason why you couldn't work on getting healthier AND TTC at the same time!

Hi kat, it's best to have intercourse the day of the LH surge and the two days after. Also consider "insurance" sex for one more day in case you ovulate late. Perfect timing would be to have had intercourse the day before the LH surge as well, but that can be hard to predict for those with an irregular cycle. If you don't know when you might ovulate, having sex every other day from cycle day 10 through a positive OPK. If you are taking your basal body temperature, you should have sex through the first day of your temp rise to make sure you cover all days (though after the rise is usually too late).
You hang in there hon.

Thanks for all the support. Today I did buy a book, taking charge of your fertility, my mom-in-law almost saw me with those type books and hubby quickly moved her in the other direction!! I really have a hard time finding what I want on line, so I hope a book will help calm and reassure me. I am actually content on my weight, it is not a emotional weight I carry, I know why it is there and I know I am doing what I can. I understand that the more weight one may have can make things harder during pregnancy and we are doing all we can. I just had a really BAD OB this round in Georgia and back to Cali and will find someone that will lisen to me.
Today I was out with my in-laws and there seemed to be babies everywhere!! I just can not wait until we are blessed. Hubby needs to find a job, but we are still going to try. I still have a day or two to think about it, but I am not sure if I am going to BBT or not this month. My schedule is going to be off and the temp in this house is never the same. I could always temp when I wake up to go potty, I will prob end up doing that... but will still think about it!! Thanks for all the positive thoughts and well wishes!! Kat

Hi Kat, that book is great. I called it my IF Bible. It will answer a lot of ?'s you have about IF. I still refer to it to help out other ladies here who have IF ?'s.
Temping can be a pain in the butt sometimes especially if you are not a good sleeper and keep getting up all night. When I was in TTC I usually wake up between 5 & 6am so it was easy to judge the time I could temp. The problem was the darm thermo. would keep falling when I was searching around for it on the night stand so as not to move too much. So to solve that problem I decided to tie a string (pitiful ) on one end of the thermo and pin the other end to my pillow so if it fell I can just pull it in. God I was pitiful but it worked. DH thought I was nuts The things we had to do to get pg.Take care and ++++++++++++++++++++++

Hehehehe... Mine is on the top shelf on my nightstand with a cover already on it, next to the Clearblue monitor and directions, also all the HPTs and OPKs near by!! Try to TTC at your in-laws..... we have talked about it and it is not worth WAITITNG to try and this is just until he gets a job ( he just got his masters) The book seems to be well written and I have read alot already. It will be how much info I can remember!!!
I havent been temping since my O rise and conformation, so when my cycle was only bout 3 days I tested to be sure... so here is to another fun filled month! Least there is no moving accross country and we have a brand new bed.... got a sleep number that makes NO noise!! I am not so sure about the whole CM stuff, but I guess I will need to pay more attention.. lol Oh, one more thought...is it too much to be TTC and follow the BMS guidelines for a boy? ( it does not matter, but if we could...) Would that be too stressful? Concidering if I can map it out to when I should O BMS would only be the last fertile day and after... Just a thought only due to breast cancer in both our families ( his mom and my grandmother) Happy thoughts all around!! Kat
