Hcg Injection And Neg Preg Test

I took an HCG injection Friday and took a cheapie internet pg test this morning and there was just a VERY, VERY faint line. Shouldn't it have showed up?

I'm not sure that I have a clear picture from your original post. Are you saying you had an HCG shot last Friday, Jun 3rd? If so, I highly doubt an HPT would register a positive this early. But, maybe I'm misunderstanding?

Yes I got it on June 3rd. I wanted to watch it leave my system so if I test later and it is a BFP I'll know it is real and not the shot. I thought it would show up right away, maybe not?

I'll defer to the experts on your question. I just don't know enough about the protocol you are using to give a good answer. Sorry......

With some people, it clears the body pretty quickly. If you did the HPT the day after your trigger shot, it would have shown. Since your trigger shot was so recent, I might do one more HPT with really concentrated urine before deciding that it's already gone, though it sounds like it is. (isn't it fun to experiment?)

Good luck! When do you plan on starting to test for real?

aimee.....it depends on the amount of your trigger. also, if you got a line, faint or otherwise, that means it's picking up hcg from your trigger. the darkness of the line is irrelevant. you could've just as easily taken a different brand and gotten a darker line...KWIM?

angela....the trigger has hcg in it, therefore it will produce a "false" positive on an hpt b/c you need to wait a certain amount of time for it to completely clear your system before being able to rely on a HPT being accurate.

here's a guide to use according to your dosage:

"Q: Can I use an HPT if I had an hCG injection (such as Profasi, Pregnyl or Novarel)?

A: You can, but you should wait 7-14 days after your last injection before the shot is out of your system. If you test too soon, you might get a false positive. Wait 14 days after a 10,000 IU injection, 10 days after a 5,000 IU injection, or 7 days after a 2,500 IU injection."

Okay, I had my ovidrel 2,500 iu trigger shot on May 31st. I did an hpt at 6pm tonight. It was positive. I am 12piui. Do you guys think it could be a real positive or is this HCG shot messing with me? I cannot wait to test again and when should I???? I am so afraid to get to excited. I know that it could be wrong.

I have high hopes for you... It's true, though, that my only BFP (ever) was due to not waiting the full 15 days past my HCG shot. If I were you, I'd just wait it out a few more days and test again. Hardest for me was realizing that the HCG shot really makes you feel pregnant. I was soooooo sure, but the key was that my symptoms got less strong, not more strong, as time went on (as the HCG left my system.) This is all so unfair. But, baby dust to you!!!

Hi: According to that quoted language Dina provided, a 2,500 iu shot should have been out of your system by 6/7 ... even a 10,000 shot should have been out by now ... I think this is all YOU!

Will your doctor give you a beta now? If not, try another HPT tomorrow or the next day... I hope you keep getting positives.

Good luck and keep us posted!
