clomid confusion
Hi everyone! I am new to this site and need all the imput i can get. I am 32 and currently on 150 mg clomid cycle days 5-9. I also take provera to induce a cycle as i do not get one on my own. This month am using opk and had a + on days 14 and 15 so i think i must have ovulated on day 16 or 17.Would that be correct? DH ,by th way has normal SA. We BMS on days 13,14,16,19. I took a preg test yesterday and it wad BFN. I am so frustrated and feel so alone in all of this. It seems that everyone i know has babies with no problem even some that didn't want them. It seems so unfair.Last may I concieved after 1 year of trying on my 2nd round of 50 mg clomid only to lose the baby at 21 wks. Now i am at 150 mg and nothing!! Guess i just need to vent to people that understand what i am going through. I have a great family but unless you have been through this infertility hell you just cannot understand.Any advice would be great. Thanks for listening to me whine.

What cycle day are you on? depending on what cycle day you are on you could have tested too early. did you get your 21 prog test done? there could still be a chance that you are pg cause it sounds like you did everything right. never give up until af arrives!! I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Chance I am so sorry for your loss
it is so unfair. I have had 3 losses so I know how you feel. Now Clomid can delay your O as well as lengthen your CD's. Can you tell us what CD you are on now? When I was in TTC I begged my OB to try me on 50mg of Clomid. I always O on CD14 and I'm a 28CD gal. Well the darn drug took me to CD31 and I o'd around CD19 or 20. I went through so many OPK's it was sickening. Remember it isn't over until the witch shows and I pray she stays away.++++++++++++ Good luck!

Hi Chance4602,
Sorry to hear about your loss. I know what you mean about people around you having babies..it is constant heartache i go through as well. Some thing that keeps me going is that I say to myself that all this we go though will be all worth it in the end......what is most important at this point is to take care of yourself (and DH). If you had a positive OPK on days 14 and 15, you could have ovulated any time during those days. OPKs state that when you get a positive, you will ovulate within 24-36 hours. So it sounds like you covered your bases there.
How long have you been taking clomid? I read somewhere many moons ago that if you haven't had a successful pregnancy after taking clomid for 6 months, it is time for a change in protocol. In other words, don't let an OB keep you on clomid indefinitely. You may need other treatment. Clomid is also notorious for drying up cervical mucous. You may need to do IUI in addition to clomid. What other tests did your doctor do before putting you on clomid? What is your particular infertility issue, if known? You are not alone although it definitely feels that way. People who have never been through it just can't appreciate the frustration and pain that comes along with it. This is a great site to get support. Best wishes as you continue TTC. You've come to the right place to get advice. |

I am nw on cd 29. The only tests i have done are a pelvic u/s and dh sa both came back ok. I have been on the clomid for 3 cycles, this is the 4th. as far as cm that has been an issue so used preseed this cycle. thanks for all your responses...I no longer feel alone. Also at what point should I tell ob enough is enough and move on to an RE. I tried to do that awhile back but my ob discouraged me and said he does not think it is time yet.

my two cents - If you don't cycle on your own, there is a possibility that you have PCOS. One of the features of PCOS is an elevated LH level, which often shows up on OPKs as a surge when it's not. (and, if it turned out that you did have pcos, there is an important treatment you could try - metformin).
If I were you, I'd move on to the RE right now. Four cycles with your OB is more than enough. One of the other problems with seeing an OB for clomid cycles is that you usually don't get ultrasound monitoring. If you had, possibly with a trigger shot, you'd have much better info about whether and when you O'd. Moreover, it's disappointing that the OB did no tests to find out more about your lack of cycles. Good luck!! -eaglet ![]() p.s. many an OB likes to dabble in fertility tx, but the fact is that fertility tx is complicated enough to be a board-certified sub-specialty of ob/gyn. You can go back to your OB when you're good and pg!!

hi chance....first i'd like to say i;m so terribly sorry for your loss. how devestating.
please don't feel that you're alone. you're in very good company here and you'll find the people here very compassoinate and supportive. it sounds like you've timed everything perfect this cycle. however, there's still a possibility that you've tested too early. if you're on cd 29, that still only puts you at 12-13 dpo. maybe you should wait a couple of more days and test again. good luck!

Hi there: I too am sorry about your loss
. As you can see, there are many women here who have walked in those sad shoes (myself included)... but there also many women here who have ultimately succeeded despite their struggle and losses! And you're right; family and friends can try to be supportive, but they don't really "get it" if they haven't been through it. That's why FT is a lifesaver .ANYWAY, I agree with the others; you could have easily tested too soon! Up to 10% of pg women will get a false negative HPT when testing at the time AF is due. So, keep your hope and if AF still hasn't come in a few days, try testing again. I hope you won't need to make this decision because you'll be pg now, but should you have to, I'm in favor of seeing an RE at this point. OBs are great for when you're pg, but REs are better for helping you to get there . That's their specialty!GOod luck and let us know how things go, ok? And, WELCOME TO THE BB !++++++++++++++ Maura |

Well went out of town this weekend hoping to come home with a bfp but instead i came back with AF. I am so disapointed. I guess the good news is that the clomid did its job in making me ovulate... i think. Let me know if i am wrong but from what i understand if i got a cycle on my own after clomid then i ovulated. Is that correct? If so that is great because i usually have to take provera to start a cycle. I really thought this was my month. I should be used to this by now but each failed cycle feels just as bad as the last one.I hope you all had a great weekend.
