HCG Question

I have an ovidrel injection that I will take tomorrow providing I have a good follicle tomorrow. My question is, it is 2500mg (I think is what they said, either mg or grams) is that the same as 2500 units? How long will it take to get out of my system? Also, if anyone has any tips please do tell!! This will be my first time giving it myself. But I am having my sister do it for me. DH can't do it.
Aimee

Hi Aimee: I would think you are getting a 2,500 unit shot, but you might want to confirm. If you are, this excerpt from the FertilityPlus website indicates that the shot should be out of your system within 7 days:

"Q: Can I use an HPT if I had an hCG injection (such as Profasi, Pregnyl or Novarel)?

A: You can, but you should wait 7-14 days after your last injection before the shot is out of your system. If you test too soon, you might get a false positive. Wait 14 days after a 10,000 IU injection, 10 days after a 5,000 IU injection, or 7 days after a 2,500 IU injection."

I hope some others chime in with tips because I've never done shots (or given any!)... GOOD LUCK and keep us posted+++++++++

hi Aimee,

Hi I used to take Ovidrelle shots but it was 6,500IU. I used to wait to wait 14 days and if i remeber correctly I was told to wait for this time frame before trying to test, however it does make sense that it depends on the dosage given. I am not too hot on testing so i always waited longer than that to test.

Good Luck with your shot!
