progesterone

Hello ladies. I am currently 11dpiui. I am on 100 mg of progesterone a day, can anyone tell me if that is a lot? I have been having quite a bit of cramping, no spotting. Bbs are so soar though. I had my progesterone levels tested this past wed and they were almost 35. I am trying to figure out if my AF will be delayed from the progesterone or not. Thanks girls. Chandra

Let's put it this was, I am 12dpt5dt and I have been on 50 mg of Progesterone shots IM and 100mg of Progesterone suppositories every day since the transfer. My chest has been sore and I have felt just minor cramping. As of now my betas prove I am pregnant but I felt this way before the tests were in. I don't think that Progesterone effects AF.

hi i don't think that's such a high level of progest. i was taking 200mg 2x a day....so 400 mg a day.

as far as the discomfort, progest has been known to cause the same uncomfortable symptoms as pg. some women even get queasy from it. it has been known to delay AF by a few days, but again, that's a farily low dose you're taking.

i have one question for you...what form of progest are you taking?

Diana, I am taking the Progesterone Suppositories. I don't think it is a high amount either, alot of women in the forums, seem to be taking more than that. :-)

the last couple of days, I have also been cramping, kind of like AF symptoms. I am worried I am going to get her soon..

ok i have a comment, and a question

comment: please don't ever let AF cramps fool you. even if this isn't your month, and i hope it is ) most women will tell you they had all signs of AF coming even tho they were pg, cramps included! i would have bet my life (each time i was pg) that AF was on her way. so when you DO turn up pg, whether it be this month, next month, or whenever, there's a good possibility that you'll be getting AF cramps, even tho she won't show up.

question: you said you had your progest tested last wed and it came back at almost 35. that's a great progest number! now...my question...why is your doc giving you progest? i've been told by more than one doc that progest supp's do not cross the blood stream b/c they're used vaginally and delivered right to the cervix (where you need it). so that would mean even tho you're using supp's, that would not contribute to your progest level taken via blood. that would mean you have a (naturally) good progest level. although it doesn't matter if you taken them, even if you don't need them, but i'm curious as to what prompted your doc to give them to you?

Diana, thank you so much for your response. This is my first IUI.
So, I am not sure of what to expect....
I am not really sure why the dr gave me progesterone. I just assumed this was normal thing to take after an IUI. ???
My Dh has low count, and I have endo. So, I am not really sure why he gave it to me. I guess I should have asked. :-)
It is so hard to stay positive... My dr had not even suggested IUI, I had to ask them if we could try it. He wanted to go straight for IVF. SO, with that, I am really not trying to get my hopes up, because I doubt it will work. It really feels like AF is brewing.. ha. Did you have bad cramps off and on when you were pg???? Thank you so much.. GO Yankees. My husband is a HUGE Yankees fan, just saw the score was 6 to 1.

ok, i didn't realize you were going for IUI. i've often heard doctors routinely prescribe progest for IUI and IVF patients.

it sounds like your doc is not too aggressive. well, in that you had yto request IUI. i don['t think i would've ever gone right to IVF without trying IUI. if you're O'ing i don't see what the gloom is all about. if its b/c of dh's sperm count, i'd think having IUI should take care of a lot of that. but i guess time will tell, right?

i know it's so hard to stay postitive. but this is just your first attempt. even if it doesn't work this month, doesn't mean it won't next month

re: cramps...with my first pg my cramps were the worst. probably b/c i was still getting cramps every few months at that time. cramps seemed to dwindle as i got older and older.... i haven't had a cramp since i was pg with ds. but with my first pg, cramps were just as bad as they would've been had i been bleeding. the cramps simmered down after the first couple of weeks. there was absolutley no difference in the feel of intensity of them even tho i was pg. i had them with my second pg, and with my last pg as well.

P.S. i don't usually show my avatar on this bb, so i hope you don't mind! but you did say your dh was a huge yankee fan. my dh is at the game and he called a while ago to tell me he was freezing his buns off. but my dd just informed me they won!!! your dh must be happy

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. I guess I should quit freaking about the cramps. Your right, if it doesn't work this month, we will try again... My dh is so jealous of your dh being at the game.. ha:-)
