"maybe mom" mini-microscope

is anyone familiar with the "maybe mom" mini-microscope? is it accurate? i bought one (i think it was $35-40) and it showed "ferning" early in my cycle. any info?

i'm sorry, i don't have any personal experience with it, but i remember reading a post here not that long ago where some one else was using it (or something similar). hopefully someone with experience will be able to offer you some insight.

yeah that was me who bought a saliva microscope!

the general theory behind it is that when you have increased ammounts of estrogen in your body your dried saliva(or cervical fluid) will have a ferning pattern. that being said the estrogen will be abundent before o, it makes a curve, and the estrogen levels are at there peak right before o, where they then fall off sharply as pogest comes in to replace it. from everything ive read, and just from personal use it will have 3 basic patterns
1. it just looks like a lot of dots on the slide, this is no good, means not enough estrogen is present
2. you will see some ferning but very little and in 1 or 2 areas of the slide, the rest will just be dots like before, the estrogen levels are rising
3. the good ferning pattern, will look like frost on the window, and the entire slide will be covered with it, estrogen is high and o is about to occur
they say the test gives you about a 3 day window before o, and you will continue so see some ferning for a bout a day or so after o

what im doing this month is just using the saliva as a gauge on when to start using opk's, when i start to see some ferning will start to test, figure that could only help me and cut down on the number of test i should have to use to get my lh surge. but thats just my opinion on it, i bought it so i wouldnt have to buy opk each and every month, but i still am because i found the results hard to really interpret. esp the ones where there was only "some ferning", so im using it with all the other signs, BBT, cervical fluid(which is hard to go by since im on clomid), the saliva, and then round out the arsenal with the opk!

im like the army i do more before 8am than most people do all day! hope this helped talk later-kel
