This is my first time posting, so hope I'm doing this right...I have been lurking for a while and learning so much from reading the boards. I have a question I hope someone may be able to answer. I had a positive urine test at my doctor's office yesterday (which really surprised me as I was on a rest cycle). Of course I have trouble believing this unless I see it for myself so I have been going crazy with my hpt's. I have not even had a hint of a positive on any of them. I have been using two different kinds that are supposed to detect hcg at 25........Does anyone know if the urine tests at the doctor's office are more sensitive? Or maybe they messed up and I'm not really pregnant??? Thanks for any input you may have.

hi and welcome to this bb. I am happy you came out of lurking. Frist
: congratulations!!! A positive result is an indication that you are pregnancy.
.
Blood and urine tests performed by a laboratory are from 97–100% accurate in detecting pregnancy. Your hcg is probably too low for the hpt to detect it.
I did a hpt at home and it was neg. The following day I had my yearly with my Gyn and he did a urine and it came up ++++. I was floored because I was on a rest cycle. So it can happen. It happened twice for me on a rest cycle. With my son and dd the 1st beta was in the low 50's which was a good # too.
So
: have a happy & uneventful 8mths.

congrats
its very very rare if not close to impossible to get a false positive, can get false negatives all day long but rarely a false positive, the hcg they test for is only in your body at pg(or if you had a trigger shot) so that hormone will only show up if your pg and for no other reason and at no other time, so celebrate, you did it!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies. You are a great bunch and I'm so happy to have found these boards.
I did end up calling the dr. office and told them all the home tests I did were coming up neg. and asked if their urine test was more sensitive than the more sensitive hpt's. The lady I spoke with just said "I would imagine so".........She said if it would make me feel better, I could come in for a blood test. I immediately did. The bummer is, they closed early on Friday and now I don't get the results till tomorrow (Mon.)
So I have been going hpt crazy all weekend testing and still no hint of a positive...I am especially concerned because I had a miscarriage in Jan.
I am so worried that my HCG levels are going down. I think it should be showing up as positive by now. It sure has been a long weekend.....

oh the waiting is torturous isn't it? you didn't mention where you are in your cycle. this could be the key factor in getting a ++ hpt.

Hi,
I am also getting bfn on home tests, 2 so far with different brands. I am on cd 31 or so and af is now 7 days late. My dr is away for 2 weeks and I can't go to the local walk-in clinic because I work there and I don't want to broadcast the news right away if I am pg. So I guess that we will wait a couple more days and see if that witch af arrives.
Dh and I were not trying but will be happy with a positive. We got pg with our dd on a rest cycle. I only figured it out when I gained 5lbs so I did a home test.
Are you having any symptoms?
I wish you all the best and will be waiting to see your update.

Sheri sounds like we are in the same boat. Hopefully it's just too early to test. What brands did you use? I used FRER (think I got that right), Accu-Clear, and the ones from Dollar Tree (I have heard from different people they work well and detect hcg at 25).
I have been having waves of nausea here and there, but it's probably just wishful thinking

Sorry, can you tell I am new at this? I hit the post button before I was finished
Sheri, I ment to ask if you were having any symptoms? I can understand your not wanting to go to the clinic you work at. I am hoping you see ++++++ soon and that af stays away.
