blood tests
I have been reading the post and replies given to Patsy and now I am throughly confused. Last Tuesday (March 22)I had my first frozen embryo transfer. My egg retrieval went well but I developed ovarian hyperstimulation so we had to postpone the transfer. Seven of ny precious snowflakes were froze.
Anyways, back to the topic. I had my first blood test on Monday (March 28) and my second blood test was yesterday (March 30). According to my chart from the RE both tests were for Beta-HcG. I was supposed to get the results today but my DH had to be out of town for work so we will get the results tomorrow Morning. I am jsut confused about what a beta test is and how you were able to know the numbers. I guess that is a question I should have asked my RE but didn't really think about it until I started reading all the posts. I am not as knowledgeable as the rest of you. Any information would be very helpful

Hi Suzan
. A beta HcG blood test measure the amount of HcG (the "pg hormone") in your blood. After implantation of a fertilized egg, the body produces HcG in increasing amounts. It's supposed to roughly double every 48-72 hours. The only way to know the numbers is to ask your doctor, who will have gotten them from the lab. So, when you talk to your doctor, make sure that you don't just get a "it was positive" or "it was negative." Make sure you get what the numbers were for each of the tests!I wish you the best of luck... make sure you come back and tell us how you make out, ok? Fingers crossed for you !++++++++++++++ Maura |
