Another Therm. ?

Ok I took everyone's advise and got a new thermometer. Same brand as the first one I had but a little different. So since I'm getting close to the end of my cycle I thought it would be a good idea to stay with the old one until new cycle??? Well I've been using both therm. in the morning just to see what the difference is.......they are totally different. Not even close to the same temps. They are almost a degree difference. The older one reads much higher than the new one. The new one reads out in like 9sec. It seems so fast, how can it read my temp that fast. The other digital therm. I have takes up to a min. a lot of times. It just seems weird to me. I almost don't even want to take temp. anymore because I hate to see a drop. I'm cd27 today and had iui on cd13 ,14, & 16. No sign of af yet and hope I don't see her. Anyway if someone could get back to me that would be great. -Annie

Annie: Isn't it weird how different therms can give you different temps? The important thing, though, is to look at the temps relative to one thermometer. It doesn't matter which one as long as the therm is doing a good job of measuring the temp relative to itself. I know I'm not expressing it well, but here's another way of looking at it.

Let's say your old temp reads your post-O range as 98.1-98.5 and your new therm reads it as 97.9 - 98.3. As long as you're getting temps post-O with your old therm that are above 98.1 and with your new therm temps that are above 97.9, you are fine!

I've come to believe that the human body's temp is so variable. It is never just one temp at any particular time. Your hands are one temp and your mouth is another. And so, as long as a therm. registers something within the normal range and is using the same measure each time it records it, that's the best we're going to do!

I hope it makes sense.

Good luck ... I hope this cycle is IT and you won't need the new therm in the future!

Keep us posted+++++++++
Maura

My therm's are both BD brand. They are not exactly the same though. One is pink and the other is blue/white with a flexible tip on it. -Annie
