It is very tempting to do a home pregnancy test before the one scheduled by your doc. However if you had an hCG injection (the one 2 days before your retrieval) it could take up to 2 weeks for the hCG to leave your system. If you have received hCG boosters it could take even longer. If you test while the hCG from the injection is still in your system you could get a false positive.

You could also get a false negative if the hCG from the injection has left your system and the hCG produced by the implanted embryo isn't strong enough yet.

If you do decide to do an HPT, please realize that it is not a conclusive result and you should not give up hope if it's neg. It waaaaaaaay too early to test now.

I know the 2ww can be very difficult but hang in there ok.

+++++++++ & sticky thoughts.
Good luck!!!

BAD BAD BAD GiRL!! Now go and lay down in your crate!!! LOL

OK - hushed tones for proper reference here- I have done EIGHT transfers- that's right EIGHT and NOT ONCE HAVE I DONE AN HPT before my beta! NOT ONCE!!!!! I know- you can kiss my ring later. LOL

So I cannot chat about if you should see a line or not- but I can tell you this.....

I did a FRED once. AFTER i got my positive beta with Meg- it would have been about 11-12 days post 5 day transfer. My beta was 126. I decided I would tell DH by peeing on a stick. SO on my way home I ran by the drug store ( note- no HPTs in this house!) and bought a FRED- I wanted a dark line you know!! Darn if DH didn't walk in the door right on my heels before I had a chance to pee- and of course asked me right away! So I went and peed on the thing anyway- IT WAS NEGATIVE!!!!! No doubt, no angling to try to see a line- definitely negative. Meg is obviously here so it was truly a false negative.

It kind of freaked me out- I rely on these type of ELISA tests every day in practice!

My beta doubled just fine the next day.

Just some food for thought before you drive yourself crazy - although it's probably too late huh!

I HATE FRED's!!! I never got an accurate result with them.
I started holding out and using EPT exclusively and always got an accurate result.

i didn't have good experience's with FRED either. i was always a clear blue and EPT girl myself.

dr.j...cracking up at your crate joke. and you are my hero...we might have to elect you pres of the HPT'ers anon group we're gonne start!

i swore off HPT's for the last 7-8 mos before i conceived my ds. wouldn't ever have one in the house. as a matter of fact i had to go buy one when i was about 4-5 days late for AF. this of course, was after years of (literally) throwing money down the toilet.
