BBT question?

Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask if anyone could help me out here. I had a hcg shot on sunday and did IUI monday, tuesday and now again today. The reason why we did 3 times is because me temp did not go up until today cd16. This is what normally happens to me....OPK starting cd10 get positive in afternoon cd13. My temp usually does not go up high (about 98.2) until cd16. I was thinking that I sould've gotten a rise after hcg shot? I thought that it was suppose to realease egg. Is it possible that I released egg but prog. does not show up until a day or 2 later? I was just worried that hcg didn't do anything for me and that's why we did IUI a 3rd time just to make sure. They did u/s cd10 and cd12 and follicle was 18 so dr said it was ready. If anyone can help me that would be great. Is it still possible to get pg after temp goes up? -Annie

Re: BBT question?

Hi Annie! I hope you don't mind, but I've pasted in your questions so that I wouldn't forget to answer any (helps my feeble mind).

What you describe actually sounds perfectly normal. If your OPK is positive on cd 13, you can ovulate anywhere from 12-48 hours later, meaning from cd 13 to 15. O on cd 15 would give you your rise on cd 16. However, I had a question for you about your rise. You don't necessarily need to see a huge jump to show O. You need only to see a rise that is at least 2 tenths of a degree higher than the highest of your previous 6 temps leading up to the rise. So, maybe you are actually Oing a little earlier than 2 days after your ++OPK and having a temp rise, but that the rise isn't dramatic until another day or so. We'd be happy to look at your temps if you want!

The shot is supposed to help get the egg released, but it doesn't always do it right away (or at all). But it looks like your egg was released, whether from the shot or just your own body.

Yes, it's possible to O and not get a temp rise for a day or so. Some women just take a while to heat up. Or, as I said above, you may have had a rise, just not one that jumped out as being O. Or you might just have ovulated yesterday. If you did, it seems that your IUI's on Monday and Tuesday would have covered you fine and possibly today's as well.

Yes, it is depending on when you O'd and when your IUI (or BMS, for those that are doing that) was. The egg can stick around for 12-24 hours post-O, so if your IUI was within that time frame post-O, there's a chance that the IUI today could have done the trick with a yesterday O.

Good luck and let us know how things work out!

Thanks Maura

On cd14 it was 97.5 cd15 97.1 and today it was 98.2. Sometimes after opk + on cd13 my temp. will rise maybe .2. It sometimes takes 2 days going from around 97.1 then to 97.5 then up to 98.2 to rise. I guess I was thinkin that it had to be the big jump to show ovulation has occured. But I guess your right that maybe I just don't notice the small jump. I have another question also. On cd16 when I get the rise my boobs also get sore and some lt pink spotting occurs....theses are also signs of Oing also aren't they? Anyway thank you very much for responding. -Annie

hi annie.....as always, maura did a beautiful job answering your questions

regarding your most recent post....the jump from 97.1 to 97.5 could very likely be your post O rise (assuming it's above your previous 6 temps) OR it could be your 98.2, in which case you would've O'd on the day it was 97.5. i know i sure brought a lt of clarity to that , right? ok...really, it's important to see the temps before the increase because it's the picture as a whole that gives you the facts.

the symptoms you described are very common O (as well as post O) symptoms. it's very common to see a spot or two during or after O due to the follicle rupturing, and the sore boobs are from the progesterone production which is now coming from the corpeus luteum (the collapsed follical that the egg was released from.)

it sounds like you timed things beatuifully! best of luck and ihope your 2ww goes quickly.

Hi Annie: I think I'm confused... did your temp go from 97.5 to 97.1 to 98.2 or did it go from 97.1 to 97.5 to 98.2? I thought the former from your first sentence, but then thought maybe the latter from your third sentence! Sorry! It would also help to see your temps for cds 10-15 (since today was cd 16, right?).

Dina is right. If your temp is at the 97.1 range and then moves to the 97.5 range, that looks like O because all you need is a .2 of a degree rise.

I hope that this month works out and if you get a chance to post those other temps, we'll take a look at them!

GOOD LUCK+++++++++++
Maura

Thanks ladies

Ok this month temp on cd 13 was 97.5, cd14 97.1, cd15 97.1, cd16 98.2. I hope this helps I didn't record much b/4 that just because I forgot day 11 & 12 because it was weekend and on weekend it just never seems right because of sleeping in. I was just wondering if I O'd maybe on cd 14 and then body just took a day to increase temp with prog? I was also wondering if it was possible for hcg shot to not work? I got shot on cd12 and IUI'd cd13 14 & 16. It seems like a lot of IUI's but I was just going by what the dr recommended. Anyway let me know what you guys think. Thanks for getting back to me. -Annie
