Ovulation Question
Hi All -
Is there any way in addition to temping, OPKs and having a progesterone check to determine if you Ovulated or not? I have been temping (on cd22) and checking cm (I seem to have a lot all the time). I thought for sure I o'd yesterday but my temp went from 97.7 to 97.5...been right around 97.3-97.7 for the last few weeks. I also had FSH on cd 3 (it was at 6) and a cd13 u/s which showed several follicles - one right side dominent at 12mm. This is normal for me - I used to o around cd 18. I don't know what is going on. Any help? Advice? Thanks to you all - djkfer DD-Kennedi (1/9/02) Angel -DS (stillborn at 30 weeks gestation 9/3/04) Angel (m/c 1/21/99)

Hi: You know, you might be ovulating today ... some women (although not all) get a dip right before they O .. perhaps that's what your temp drop today was... if your temp rises tomorrow, then I'd say you did today!
Are you BMSing or doing a procedure? If BMSing, I'd continue until you see that rise. Oh, btw, what has your OPK been doing? Did you get a positive? If so, what cd? Good luck and keep us posted++++++ Maura p.s. The only other way to know if you've ovulated (besides what you've mentioned) is another u/s to see if your follicles are gone .

Dear Maura -
Thanks for your quick response. Actually I do sometimes see a dip (been awhile since I've charted)...I guess I am anxious. Right now we are BMSing. We BMS every other day from cd16-cd23. I ran out of opk's so I haven't been doing them. I know, I am bad. Just a really busy time of year for us. Thanks for the +++thoughts and info. Really appreciate it. djkfer |

Hi again
. I wouldn't worry about the OPKs at all ... if you are BMSing regularly, then you really don't need OPKs because you would be using them to give you the green light to BMS and you already are ! Because you are temping, you should be able to figure out when you've O'd (and so, when you can stop BMSing). I know you said you BMS until cd 23, but in this case, where O seems to be a little delayed, I wouldn't stop until you are sure you've O'd!Good luck and fingers crossed for you ++++++++++Maura p.s. If you ever do happen to get a ++OPK on one of your "off days for BMS (say on a cd 17 or 19 in a typical month), I would go ahead and BMS that day and the next one after (well, really every day after a ++OPK until your temp rises and stays up) because those days are just too important to miss. I say this for those without severe male factor, though. If you do have male factor issues, check with your doctor on the timing with OPKs. Last edited by mod-Maura; 03-01-2005 at 09:26 AM. |
