bmsing and timing

Okay, so my husband is being transferred out of town for work. His boss springs it on him that he has leave town today, with no warning. The problem is, I am on Clomid, and this is my week, if you know what I mean. I am on cd 10 today, and seem to have somewhat fertile cm. We bms this morning before he left, but I am afraid that it all came out ( i know, tmi). He is going to try to make a run home on Wednesday, cd 12 if he can, but no garauntees, otherwise he will be home on Friday, cd14. I have been waiting so long and I am so afraid we are going to miss the day I ovulate! I got a pos opk this morning, but again, I am afraid it all came out!

So, with all of this said, I suppose it significantly decreases my chances if only a few sperm make it in there? I feel so frantic, I have been an emotional mess since I found out he had to leave today, the timing couldn't be any worse!!!!!

Any advise, or reassuring words? You ladies always come through.

Thanks,
Jessica

hi jessica......i'm sorry abput your dh having to be away. i know how frustrating it is when you can't time things right. if you got a ++ OPK today and did it this morning, that's great! don't worry about what came out...what actually comes out is seminal fluid...i'm sure plenty of sperm stayed where they needed to be. remember, it only takes one!

do you temp in addition to OPK? i hope dh can make it home on wednesday. good luck! let us know how your week goes.

P.S. reasurring words.....my dd was the product of BMS (which wasn't suppose to be "BMS" ) 3 days before i O....i had no idea i was so close to O at that point and thought i was 'OK' even tho i came so close...but voila....there she was

Dina,

Thank you for the reassuring words, it makes me feel much better. I will definitely keep you posted as to whether or not we were successful! My dear hubby got delayed getting out of town, so I am hoping I can get 15 minutes of his time once more before he leaves this afternoon!

Hi jessica, I am sorry that your dh is leaving town I wouldn't worry about the few that falls out hon. The same thing happened to me when I was on a rest cycle. I got my +OPK the morning dh was leaving for business and we BMSed that morning. I thought it was too late and to my wonderful surprised I found out at my regular GYn check-up I was pg. So it can happen.

Sending ++++++++++ & sticky thoughts.
Good luck!!!

Question

Stacy-ann,
Thanks for the sticky thoughts, I will take all I can get! I have never been away from my hubby for any period of time (except when my grandpa died and I went out of town for four days, and then I wasn't home, being home is the hard part), so I think I may just be a little overdramatic, but I have the right, right? Anyways, I made him promise to come home on Wednesday. I am temping, but missed Sunday because we were out of town and I forgot to bring my BT. I didn't start until after AF, and since I am only on CD 10, I only have 4 days of temping, so I am a little worried about getting an acurate reading on my chart. If I o'd today, should I potentially have a temp drop tomorrow morning? And then an immediate temp rise above my baseline the next day? So if I have only recorded 4 temps, 97.3, 97.5, 97.5, missed day, 97.7, then what is my baseline? Sorry so many questions, thanks for your help!

Jessica

jessica,

based on the temps you have, you'd draw your coverline at 97.8. generally, you don't get your temp drop after you O, you get it either before or the day of, with a rise the following day. not to say that it doesn't happen, but your temp is usually on the rise after O.

hope you got to squeeze that extra 15 mis out of dh before he left.

No such luck with my dh, he came in in a whirlwind to grab his things, a quick kiss and out the door he went.

I am really bummed that I didn't get a temp Sunday morning, who knows what it was! Anyway, my temp is 97.8 this am, will bms again tomorrow if possible, but that may be too late... We shall see in two weeks I guess!

So I guess I should be looking for my temp to stay above 97.8 then?

Thanks!!

Hi Jessica: How frustrating to have your dh gone this week.... just adds to your stress level, I know! You know, you might not have ovulated yet, even though your temp was a little higher today and even though you got that ++OPK on cd 10. I would act as if you haven't and continue to BMS whenever you can this week ... and definitely keep temping .. you never know what can happen and you might end up timing things just right this month!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++
Maura
p.s. If you have ovulated and 97.8 is your rise, then you would expect your temp to stay above 97.8 for your 2ww.

Maura,

I took another opk today, just to be sure that it wasn't still up, last month I had about 3 or 4 days in a row that were pos opk. It was definitely negative today.

Do you think it is possible to have an LH surge and not ovulate, and would the real LH surge maybe come later? I will continue to BMS as much as possible! The problem is, it may not be possible at all! Ugh! Here is to hopeing that my temps stay up...

Hi Jessica: It is possible to get a false LH surge before the real one, but there's no reason to think that's what's happened. I was just speculating in the event that your 97.8 was not a true rise (let's say, for example, that your temp on Sunday would have been 97.8 or higher). But if your temp stays up above 97.8 now, then I think your ++OPK was a true surge and you did ovulate (and you did have well-timed BMS).

If you already ovulated, then don't worry about trying to BMS again, because you already timed things well with your cd 10 BMS. If for some reason you haven't ovulated, then odds are dh will make it home on time because most women on Clomid (that I've seen here) seem to ovulate somewhere between cd 14 and 20 (another reason why I thought it's possible that your ++OPK might not have been a real one).

Hope this is not too confusing (I feel like I'm rambling a little!)! Bottom line, keep temping and let's see what your temps do. If they are at all ambiguous, just BMS at the next opportunity!

Best of luck+++++++++++
Maura
