Question Question for obsessive HPT'ers

Hi everyone!

I'm now 6dp6dt and am driving myself crazy with the hpt results I've gotten. I used the Answer One Step brand on both Thursday and Friday and got VERY faint positives. Then again on Friday morning and again this morning I took the FRER and again got positives but they were still faint. The FRER on Friday was darker than the Answer brand but still very light. Should I be worried? Shouldn't the line be getting substantially darker each day?

I'm just so worried because this is round two for my Intended Parents and the first time was a chemical pregnancy. I'm so afraid this one will be as well.

Any comments from anyone who's had a similar situation with HPT results? Perhaps the darkness of the line does not really matter?

Oh, why oh why do I do this to myself. I should know to stay away from those evil sticks!!

Thanks to all

Harley

Hi Harley: Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear about your ++HPTs! I have to run out the door, but I just wanted to say quickly that the strength of the line DOESN'T matter... an HPT is a simple "yes" or "no" and the darkness is irrelevant.

Anyway, I'm sure others will chime in too... GOOD LUCK and let us know how your beta turns out (if you're getting one)!

yep. i'm here to chime in!! it sounds like a +++ to me. the darkness of the lines are not indicative of much. anything can contribute to that, including the test you're taking and it's sensitivity, how diluted your urine is, etc.

i would wait a few more days, test again (i'm a true fan of clear blue and ept for their reliablility) and give your doc a call!

congratulations!

Hi surromom,

I just got a BFP from b/w, however, I tested using 2 different brands of HPT's prior to the blood work everyday for 4 days and got faint lines each time on a cheaper brand HPT and a dark line using another brand (ClearBlue Easy). All meant positive.

HPT tests have different sensitivity levels which means one can pick up your HCG at lower levels, while another brand requires your HCG levels to be higher to give you a + or darker line.

Here is a good source on the HCG sensitivity levels of difference HPT brands: http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hpt.html

Just a side note. They say that it doesn't matter how faint or dark your positive results are -- they are still considered positive. You should wait a few days and test again.

Congratulations on your +++HPT's and keep us posted!
