Question don't know where to post this...prog questions (pg ment)

Hi girls,

I don't know if you can answer this one but I have myself all worried (what else is new?) I had emailed my RE to ask him whether or not they would be checking my progesterone level again as it was only checked at my first beta (it was 25.19) and I was a bit concerned due to the fact that charting had showed me to have a short luteal phase. I reminded him that he had prescribed prog suppositories that I would be taking following my IUI. I have them at home but never made it as far as the IUI thanks to my natural miracle Anyway, he got my email late (after my blood draw) and replied that I should just start taking them based on what I thought I knew from charting. Soooo, now my question is, do you think that's ok? What if my progesterone is already good enough? Will taking them cause me any harm in that case? I really would have rathered we had some solid evidence to go by here. WWYD?

Thanks so much in advance...gosh...I owe you all so much!

Lisa

Taking the progesterone will not hurt you. You cannot get "too much" of it. I would go ahead and start it. Good Luck!

Lisa: I would take them as well... it cannot hurt and it could really help! Will you have your prog. tested again?

Good luck+++++++++++

yes, i agree 100% with aimee and maura. there is no harm in taking progesterone whatsoever, even if your natural levels are good. so i would definitely take them until you get confirmation from your doc that you don't need them.

I knew you guys would come through for me!

Thanks - I'm not sure what my RE's plans are but I'll see him briefly after my u/s on Friday and I'll be sure to ask.

Hugs,
Lisa

update (long sorry)

Thanks for the advice - I have been taking them. They really aren't too bad seeing as I take them at bedtime.

I had my u/s today and we saw the gest sac and yolk. My beta is still doubling and was 5607 today. I am trying to figure out if everything makes sense here. My doctor doesn't seem to want to pinpoint things seeing as this is a natural pg. What do you girls think of the timeline (honestly???)

I believe I o'd between 1/22 and 1/24 (at the latest)
My hpt was negative on 2/5 (12-14dpo)
My beta was positive on 2/7 at 61 (14-16dpo)
Today is less than two weeks from my BFP but just under 4 weeks from o (making me just under 6wks) but I am measuring about 5 weeks.
Do you think this is bad? I am wondering if the slow-rising beta has anything to do with it? Just 5 days ago my beta was 444 so there was certainly nothing that could be seen on a u/s at that point. So, I am telling myself there is no way things could have progressed to where they should be at 6 weeks in such a short time (meaning I am on target even though I am measuring behind?)

What do you experts think?

edited to add: I have a 2nd u/s next Friday.

lisa...it's almost expected at this stage to have your u/s be off by a bit. usually anything within 5-6 days in either direction is considered good. i had the same thing with my last pg. i was positive of when i O, but my u/s dated me a week off. it's almost impossible to get it perfectly accurate at this early stage. as time goes on, there's more to work with and the gestational age become easier to detect. please don't worry. it doesn't matter how they date you, your dd is calculated from the date of your LMP.

Hi Lisa, I think things sound great! You've seen a yolk sac and a gestational sac, which is exactly what you should be seeing at this point! My ultrasound was a little off too with dd... I knew exactly when I ovulated and the ultrasound said that I was measuring earlier than was possible. It didn't matter... it all worked out in the end. I think ultrasounds are not good measuring tools this early on. They're good for seeing the big things like the sacs and heartbeat (and even then they don't always catch the heartbeat!).

Anyway, I hope your next ultrasound is another good one! Keep us posted and good luck++++++

yay lisa!
SOOOOO happy to hear that things are going well! i agree to take the progesterone....can't hurt!
as for the u/s....it seems like since you got those -HPT's so close to the end of your cycle, you might have implanted late. so that might be why you're dating a few days behind. but i wouldn't worry about it....a few days in either direction doesn't really matter. i'm SO excited for you! congrats!!!
