Is there a dip in temp before ovulation?

Is there a slight dip in temp before seeing a shift that indicates ovulation. I'm only now starting to get periods on my own (ammenhorea for years due to running) and this is my first time charting. I know know how many days my cycle is because last month was my first period.

thanks!

Hi there. Some women get a dip in temps before O; some women sometimes get a dip before O and some women never do! You might have to temp a while to know into which category you fall, so if you don't get a dip, don't think you're not going to ovulate (or that O isn't close). It's really important to watch your cm, esp. if you're not taking any OPKs. BMS on any day that you see fertile quality cm (unless you are dealing with male factor and then you need to space the BMS to allow for sperm build-up).

Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++

i would've said exactly what maura said. for me (personally) my dip came the day of O each month. it would usually be my lowest temp of the month.

good luck!

i also suffered from amenhorrhea due to running and only recently resumed my menstrual cycle. if you do not mind me asking, how did you get your period back? and did you ovulate your first cycle? mine continue to be highly unpredicatable and long!! it's sort of frustrating.
