LH levels-OPKs+PCOS
Hi all!
I'm due to be tested for PCOS in a couple of weeks...We've had a m/c and an ectopic. But nothing since that...(2/03). I've had 1 ivf treatment (produced 8 eggs) and ivf#2 was cancelled due to poor response, after 9 stim inj.
I've been temping for a couple of months and could see a temp. shift, and assumed that I o'd around day 14. Today is day 10 and I did an OPT which was +. I'm a bit worried about that, as it seems to confirm elevated LH levels. My ? are:
Anyone know if it is possible to ovulate with elevated LH levels?
Is it possible to get pregnant with PCOS? On Metformin? With ivf- is there a different protocol that increases success with IVF?
Thanks so much, I look forward to your replies!

Hi Liz: Maybe you are surging a little earlier this month, with a cd 10 ++OPK, you could ovulate on cd 12 (or cd 10-11), which is only 2 days earlier than cd 14
. The only ways to know whether you have elevated LH is to keep taking OPKs and see if they are consistently ++ or to have your blood level tested. If your charts have shown temp rises with sustained higher temps after the rise, then you probably ARE ovulating
.
You can get pg with PCOS and I know women with PCOS have had success with Metformin, but I don't know specifics (or about IVF succcess rates with PCOS). Have you tried posting on the PCOS bb?
I hope your b/w comes back ok! Keep us posted and BMS for now until you figure out whether this is a true surge or not! Always assume that it is
!
Good luck

hi liz....
i ditto everything maura said. i know there are many women on this site that have become pg and had healthy pg's, and also suffer from PCOS.
you said you'll be tested for PCOS so i'm assuming you having PCOS is just speculation at this moment?
i agree with maura about possibly O a little early this month. it's not out of the norm for O to be off by a couple of days from time to time. if you do in fact have PCOS, that could also account for the ++OPK. apparantly women who suffer from PCOS have an elevated level of LH (even when they're not O) therefore they're going to automatically get a ++ OPK. however....until you get confirmation that this is your situation, i would take that ++ OPK and hit the ground running!!
good luck! let us know how your tests turn out!

Liz, Hope your temp is staying up... I'd trust a clear, sustained temp rise over OPKs where there's a discrepancy!
Fingers crossed for you
