Question about OPK

I am on no meds and no u/s. Only using OPK (OuvQuick). The directions on the kit say to test between 10 am and 8 pm. Does anyone know why these times?

hi shartman....

i have read on many occassions that the LH (which is what OPK's are designed to detect) is (generally) at it's peek between certain hours. that said, 10am -8pm is a fairly wide span of time. i don't know why, but 1-4pm is sticking out in my mind for the common recommendation of testing time.

Hi. Here is an excerpt from the fertilityplus website, which I adore:

": What time of day should I test?

A: The best time to test is 2 p.m., or as close as possible. Anytime between noon and 8 p.m. is fine, first morning urine is not recommended. The reason for this is that most women experience a surge in the morning, but it can take 4 hours for it to show up in your urine.

Make sure to test at about the same time every day."

That said, I never had any trouble testing at OTHER times of the day, as long as I was consistent about testing at the same time each day. So, for those people that cannot logistically test in the afternoon, don't worry! You're probably fine whatever time you test, even with first morning urine. Of course if you do that and never get a ++OPK, you might want to try another time>
