UNICEF has become very anti-adoption these last several years. Please don't support them. I will ask TraciK to come over and give more info. She is very knowledgeable about UNICEF and their campaigns to stop international adoption.

Thanks FlaMom for posting that. I was going to add the same thing.
TraciK does know more than me, but my understanding is that over the last 10+ years UNICEF has gotten more and more out of the "business" of helping children and more into the local politics of the countries it works in. If you dig down behind a number of countries that have closed or seriously slowed international adoption in the last few years UNICEF has been behind them all (Vietnam, Romania, El Salvador, etc.) and has had a major campaign going in Guatemala for the last 5+ years. The previous UNICEF rep for Central America was quoted once as saying that she didn't care what happened to the children who were not adopted from Guatemala, that was the Guatemalan Governements problem, she was just trying to prevent children from being removed from their country of birth.
