My niece has been in my life 17 years today. I am amazed she's 17 years old today. Her mom, my sister, was mom of the year until she was 2.5. Then her marriage ended and being a single mom was just too hard. I took over literally and raised her child until she was 6 and in KG. Then my sister moved in with our mom. She was never home.. my step dad picked her up from school and she was home with my grandmother. My sister ended up moving out with my niece and I had her every weekend. I paid for most of her clothes and wants. My sister was into drugs, but was a functioning drug addict. She lived with my sister full time from 13-15. I had her on birth control, my sister took her off of it. My niece was pregnant at 15 and married. She now lives with me with her baby girl while the father is in another state living with his parents and saving money for their future. She's in school. Here I am trying to have my own family and I am the parent of a teen parent... who is also quite selfish. She's a good mom, but sometimes needs guidance. I'm a proud aunt though. She's a good kid.
