OK, two days left in August!! ROLL CALL, how is everyone and those precious babies?![]()
Who haven't we heard from? I PM'd 4leaf. She is doing good just lots of company and adjusting to things with new baby Reed. Is there anyone else that hasn't checked in since having their baby?
I have been thinking that there may be some new August moms that were not a part of the pregnancy board that may be looking over on the parenting board for support/advice and not finding anyone over there?? I think come September 1 you guys should definitely make the move over there and I will catch up (or just come post there). For anyone who needs the link to the August 2009 playgroup, here it is:

Oh my gosh, check out the ticker....one day until my due date!! Still hanging in there. Though (as my posts may have revealed) I have definitely made the shift emotionally. Where I was happy, comfortable and still content being pregnant, I am now grumpy, irritable and have a become very short on patience!

I am having ALL sorts of pre-labor symptoms....I know it's getting close! Yesterday I contracted/cramped w/back-ache on and off all day, some that were definitely intense. I won't go in to all the gross details but I am losing all sorts of "stuff" down there in large quantities!
So, after all my signs yesterday I decided to check my own cervix (I know that my sound weird to some of you
but me and my cervix go way back....I am very familiar with her.
Back in my days of IF and reading books about fertility I had often checked my cervix position to see when I was most fertile etc. I know people say it can be unsafe and introduce bacteria, blah, blah, blah but come on we are still having sex....like THAT doesn't introduce bacteria!!).
So if you find this to be TMI, read no further!
.........
OK, so I clip the nails, scrub up and do a check. So, I am no expert and certainly can not tell effacement percentages but I could tell it was really thin. Best I could tell from the websites I found and from chatting with my L&D nurse friend, I am a good 3 cm (I feel pretty confident in that measurement). Gabe's head is so low that it was easy to get a good check!! WooHoo! I know this means not much in the way of timing because I was at a 3+ for a while before having dd but I am happy my body is doing it's thing!
(And on a side note, FS spent the day with his dad again yesterday. Luckily DH dropped him off this time so I didn't have to deal with him screaming.
Once again FS was all giggly and happy by the time we picked him up last night. Next weekend he spends the WHOLE weekend there. Luckily by then I will have baby Gabe to distract me from missing FS).

Tonight I have "bloody show" and a lot of contractions. They just aren't in any kind of pattern......yet.

Thanks girls. I am starting to feel like the little boy who cried wolf.

Last night after all the "show" I was contracting like every 2-4 minutes, very uncomfortable but could still talk through them etc. They were short too, like 30-60 seconds. After 2 hours of that I decided a shower would be good. The shower was heavenly, I could have stayed in all night but what do you know....it really slowed things down!!
I told Dh we should get to bed and try to sleep just in case this was it (I really thought we were going to the hospital last night!). I contracted ALL night long, very sporadically, about every 7-20 minutes, some I could sleep through, some would wake me up and get me timing again!
At one point they were 7 minutes for about an hour and then spaced out again. Still had a lot of "show" every time I got up to pee. This is so different than my last labor for sure!!
I keep reminding myself to be patient and just trust that Gabriel is just not ready and when he comes will be exactly when he should. So, here I sit...on my due date with hardly anything going on.

Amy - it is soooo soon. And your labor is going to be quick. When you can no longer talk through them, you need to move fast. Unless the accidental home delivery still sounds good.
