Trip to L&D on Saturday....My Wake Up Call!

I was having Braxton Hicks contractions for about 10 hours on Friday and when I woke on Saturday I was having vaginal cramping and back pain so the doctor had me come in for monitoring.

Luckily, it turned out to be nothing. No contractions and my cervix was tight and closed. They sent my urine culture for testing thinking I may have an infection.

I think this was my wake up call to get moving! We went shopping that afternoon and bought some necessities including diapers and wipes so we'll be ready in the event she does decide to come early!

Glad to hear it was a false alarm. Don't do too much though, you don't want things to start up again! I know what you feel about not being ready yet - I figure I have 2 boobs and some diapers so I should be all set

Oh whew...glad it was nothing more!!
Sometimes I feel tightening in my tummy, that's probably BH but I wonderif I would know and hope I would know if it was something to be concerned about!

Glad to hear that it was only BH. I probably should start on things myself as you never know...One thing less to worry about when you ready, right?

    Erin,

BH are a tightening of the stomach muscles which SHOULD go away if you move around. They should only last a minute or so.

REAL contractions are much more painful.

The reason I was concerned is because I was having BH for ten hours straight.

Glad to hear everything is still holding tight. You are right though, I guess it's not too early to at least go out and get some diapers and stuff! WOW!

I'm glad you went in to get checked out. Better safe than sorry. And, you can be relieved that there weren't any problems.

Probably a good idea to make sure you have the necessities though. And, it's a great excuse to shop!

I didn't have anything ready with my twins because I was on bedrest and coming home to construction, no bassinet or crib, or room set up, was a nightmare! So, this time I am getting ready early.

Wow! I'm so glad you're okay! I don't think I've experienced BH yet. I definitely have ligaments tugging occassionally, though.

We should probably all have a little wake up call - but as long as they're not scary wake up calls! Glad you and your baby are staying well put!
